Jared isn't up there either. It hasn't been up there in a while. I'm more than fine with that...

Unique is good, but it was a bummer when I was growing up since there were no pencils, pens, license plates, buttons, paper, etc that said "Doreen".
I was sure "Jack" would've been on there. Every kid in the park seems to be named Jack these days.
Everyone I talk to now who is having babies is naming their son Jack (including myself)

I guess I have set my daughter Emily up for a horrible life.
no way, I hav an Emily and there is not any other Emilys in pre-k, kindergarten, 1st, 2nd or 3rd grad, we don't even know any other Emilys, so go figure, Emily has been the #1 girls name since 1998

I couldn't agree more! Which is why we went with Emily.
I also want my kids to have names that everyone can spell

My DD is now 17 down from 14. The funny part is we know very few Grace's out here in CA. The ones I do know are all Korean, since it is a very popular Americanized name.

When I picked Ava, I wasn't even pg yet. I just always knew I would have a girl and wanted to name her Ava Isabella. It is perefect, it suits her. When she was born (almost 3 years ago ) I didn't know anyone named Ava. Now I know several.
All through school there were three of us Tara's....OOHH well...It is even my best friends name..Imagine what it's like when I call her at work: "Hi it's Tara, can I please speak to Tara?" People are always confused..
My husband is Jeremiah. He never met another, but always heard "Jeremiah was a bullfrog" and has always hated his name....

Re: Top Baby Names REVEALED!
I was pretty particular in not giving my DD a trendy name. I didn't even want one that was in the Top 1000 , but yet I didn't want one that was too unique.
Jill fit the bill.

Molly was almost "Jillian" but then I would've had a Jack and Jill.

Yeah, that probably would have been hell for them in school.
I can't tell you how many people ask us "Is it Jillian or Jill?" We're constantly saying "Just Jill." We (family & friends) even started calling her JJ.

Re: Top Baby Names REVEALED!
My daughter's name is getting popular now (Gianna), but as long as it's not as popular as my name (Jennifer).
It was not fun being one of 6 Jennifers in a class.

A little off topic, but reminds me of growing up where my brother and I were 10 months apart and in the same grade and naturally they thought we were twins, but not. anyway, they called us "Patty and Matty" (Patricia and Matthew).

There's my JACOB shining bright at number 1 !!!!!!!!
And honestly as popular as they say his name is, I rarely hear it. I think there may be 2 or 3 others on this board, and never have I encountered one on the outskirts of LIF!

Re: Top Baby Names REVEALED!
Im glad we picked a unique name for our DD. We were gonna do Gianna but there are way too many Gianna's ( I work with kids) so we went with Giada.
as far as finding stuff personalized, you can always find it on the internet so that isnt a problem.

Re: Top Baby Names REVEALED!
It's funny..John is no longer on the list and it was one of the most popular boys names at one time.
But...he is 1 in about 5,000 in his family of Johns, lol!! But I loved that he has his daddy's name...
My husband wanted:
Vincenzo or Corrado or Bruno.
Yep...I talked him into John.

Looks like there will be a lot of Madison's in her class. We'll have to come up with a nickname for her before she starts school.

I like most of the names on the list...but I also tried to avoid naming my children the most popular names. I also didn't want them to grow up with 3 kids with the same name in their class.

My name is just KIM...not Kimberly....through school and even now, I am always telling people...no, it's just Kim, not Kimberly!
The reason behind this...my mother knew that in school, we would learn to write our names. She didn't want me to have to learn to spell Kimberly, when she knew everyone was going to call me Kim anyway

My dd's name is Amanda and she did not have an Amanda in her class until she was 8 years old (she started daycare at 3 months).
