Last year we did something big because it was our first married Vday. Otherwise, we could careless.

Not big at all. When we were dating, it used to be, but other things like birthdays and Christmas/Chanukah are so much more important to us now.

We do cards, chocolate, and cook at home. It's perfect!

Re: total random question about valentines day b/c i was pondering it today

We do cards, chocolates and either dinner in or dinner out. Past couple of years we have been going to a V-Day dance, but decided not to this year.

I don't think that we have to be super romantic with each other just because Hallmark tells us to be. It's cute, but I see it as no different than any other day.

We don't acknowledge V-Day.

It bugs me that its so commercialized - the big focus is about BUYING something for your SO. I thought the day was supposed to be about celebrating "love". I don't need things to make me feel loved - not that I would be celebrating it either way.

It's just another excuse to be EXTRA romantic and lovey - we take every excuse we can get and aren't ashamed of that!

We have a lot of scheduled mush days - The fifth of each month, the 9th of March, the 7th of September, May 18th, February 14th, December 7th - those are the 'bigger ones'.

Yeah - it's a 'Hallmark Holiday' - but I am on board with anything that gives people an excuse to show their love.

We don't exactly go all out but we DO make it special. Even if we order in, I will decorate and set up candles. DH will get me flowers. . . I think we make it special Chat Icon

I would love to go out to eat but I hate how some restaurants put you right next to other people and have limited menus etc.

This happened to us one year. The people next to us were breaking up and saying horrible things to each other. It $ucked!

We normally do dinner, cards and small gifts. Nothing too crazy.

Re: total random question about valentines day b/c i was pondering it today

No, not a big deal at all. We started dating a week after v-day so we didn't celebrate for the first 5 years we were together. After we got married, it just didn't matter as much to me.

We are going to a family Valentine's Day party but it's really just something fun for DD to do. We went last year and she had a great time, so we're going again but otherwise it's a non-event for us.

We celebrate it, but its not huge. Our first date was on Valentine's Day 13 years ago Chat Icon, so it really is a special day for us. We go out to dinner, exchange cards and usually gifts. Nothing crazy though.

Re: total random question about valentines day b/c i was pondering it today

I got DH a card from me, a card from DD and DD a card from us for her first Valentine's day.

DH is sending me on a wine tour in a limo with a few of our friends girlfriends/wives (that I am good friends with) on Saturday. He said that is his gift to me- even though I have to pay for it.Chat Icon

This is us as well. Our anniversary is 2/18 and we celebrate the 18th of every month. On one of our first dates FH set up candles and got us pizza. So I told him for Valentines Day I would like to have pizza and candles. That to me is perfect. He agrees. Chat Icon

Re: total random question about valentines day b/c i was pondering it today

This year we are going all out. We got a room at the Marriott with breakfast in bed and late checkout and are going out for a big fancy dinner. We have not gone out on a date since August! We have a 1 year old and no one to really count on for a sitter, so my sister volunteered and we are going all out. We usually just go to dinner and exchange small gifts.

Re: total random question about valentines day b/c i was pondering it today

We usually do go out the night before or after or maybe do lunch or brunch that day. We do exchange cards and I got DD a card and a book for her first Valentine's Day. It was never a big deal for me growing up but I want DD to have fun with it.
