Totally Upset & Scared to Death
Not that yesterday's mail was a big surprise, but I'm still having a hard time processing.
Those of you who read hbugalla's post earlier this week know that her MD unfortunately had to send her to another OB. I was holding out hope that the office wasn't doing it with all the patients, but yesterday's mail brought a letter informing me that I too have to find a new MD.
I am TERRIFIED!!! I know there are other MDs out there that are wonderful, (and I essentially already have one) but . . . . first off, this is my first child (and only given my age), second my MD had been my GYN for over 20 years, third he was the OB in the delivery room when my mother had me, and finally he is the MD who performed surgery on my mom when she had cervical cancer. I just can't believe that he won't be delivering another generation, especially after all the conversations I had with him about it, and how he promised me he would be there.
So, on Monday I go for my Level II, and then next week I will have my final appointment with a man who has been my MD since I was a teenager.

I'm sorry you have to go through this. I can see that it was important for you to have your doctor deliver your baby.
I know what it's like, though. I moved halfway through my pregnancy and I had to find a new OB at 20 weeks. I am happy to say that I love the new practice I go to. I am sure you will find someone you like just as much!

I am so sorry. I know how much it meant to you to have this Dr. handle the delivery. I did interview many, many OB/GYNs in Suffolk when I had my fibroid surgery, so let me know if you want my thoughts on anyone. Your doctor probably has a recommendation ready for you if you want it (sounds like maybe there is someone right at his office??). I would highly recommend mine, but I think you already know who it is and I suspect that you want to stay with the same hospital that you planned on using.

I'm not going to stay at the same hospital if I can't keep the same MD. DH & I just had an offer on a house accepted and it is faaaar away from the original hospital. I have a recommendation for a new MD, I was just kind of hoping that b/c I'm only 20 weeks the situation at my current MD's office would resolve itself and I wouldn't have to switch MDs. The mail just confimed what I didn't want to believe/know.

AH, I was forgetting that the distance to the hospital will increase now. Try to see your new doctor sooner rather than later (will they make you wait 4 weeks from your 20 week appointment or can you at least meet the Dr.?). My mind would be more at ease after meeting with the new Dr.

I am very sorry to hear this happened to you! Esp. since you had been seeing this doctor so long and your family has a history.
My doctor is in NYC, so that probably wouldn't help you, but if you want a recommendation, let me know. Is your previous doctor referring peole to anyone else? If not, I hope you find someone you like and fast! I'm sure people here can help you.

Dar---I'm so sorry your worst fear came true, I was hoping it would work itself out.
I'm sure you'll find a new OB/GYN & it'll be great, but I know its disappointing given your history w/ this current doctor. Did you at least speak to him personally about the situation?

You made me cry...partly b/c Im pregnant, partly b/c this was my dr too, but mostly b/c he is such a wonderful doctor that it makes it even more sad.....
I just keep thinking how he never charged me for my care when I was pregnant with the twins..and how he never ever said anything...or allowed anyone to say anything to me...and saw me through that tough pregnancy...

I am so sorry and understand how you feel. At 30 weeks pregnant I needed to find a new OB since I needed to give birth at one of two hospitals, and my Dr was not affiliated with either of them. I had been going to him since I was 18 and my husband was delivered by his father in the practice. I was so upset that he would not be delivering my boys. But, I found a wonderful OB, I was so happy with my new Dr that when I had to go back to my original one, I was so upset to leave the new one, LOL.
Don't worry you will find a new great Dr, it really stinks about the timing though.

I feel like you & I are in this heII together b/c we do see the same MD. My last appointment with him is 7/30 and I'm hoping I don't break down and start crying like a baby in front of him b/c I know it will just break his heart.
