Train vent
Dear passenger, Do not give me the stank eye when I ask to sit in the seat next to you because you have to move your backpack. Your bachpack does not pay almost $400 a month to ride the train.

Re: Train vent
I make a point of sitting next to someone who tries to take up 2 or more seats. Even if there are many empty ones!!!

lol.. when men do this, I cross my legs so that the bottom of my shoe touches the front of their pants & once they realize that a little dirt is getting on their pants, I get my personal space back. Azzholes!

Re: Train vent
Certain people- more and more lately- feel they are entitled to more than everyone else. Even when driving. They miss a turn or need to change lanes last minute- so they just stop or block traffic- rather than acknowledge they made a mistake and deal with it.
Same on the train- they think they deserve 6 seats, or a seat for their bag.
I hate people!!!!!!!

Re: Train vent
grrrrr....me too.
I hate when people set up shop like they are there for the long haul on a rush hour train.
Store your stuff, sit straight and keep to yourself.
How about the luggage on the floor next to them or in the aisle? This morning a suitcase claimed a seat. It wasn't too big for the rack but she insisted it was. I offered to put it up for her and she refused. I said maybe a conductor can do it..I'll go get someone.
I didn't but I felt like making her nervous.

If it can't go on top then she can either put it under the seat of sit on the aisle and hold it. It DOES NOT get a seat

Ugh - I hate this! I don't take the train anymore but what is with the drivers? They feel so entitled. If you make a mistake and have to go half a block out of your way to make a U-turn, you should do that instead of causing everyone else to miss the light while you try to correct your mistake.

I always let couples sit together, I'll even switch seats so they can be together.
My bigger vent these days is how certain trains are NEVER on time. I'd like to see the on-time % listed by train instead of by branch!

They put it in the aisle too. I always comment when I have to climb over their bags. If we have to evacuate the train quickly it's not safe. I refuse to put your bag ahead of my safety.

This is very nice of you. If DH is working in the city I always save a seat for him. But I don't try to take up a 3-seater doing so. I've gotten attitude for it before.
And yes, it is annoying when you get the eye roll because you ask someone to move their bag.

it was one of the 6 seaters where you are facing each other.
he wanted his wife to sit in front of him by the window because the middle seat next to him was a little tight

Yea, that's a little ridiculous!
Some people are just very inconsiderate...they only care about themselves and their comfort.

Guilty. When we commuted together, DH and I saved a seat for the other... UNLESS it was the last seat on the car, then we'd give it up if the other one hadn't come yet. It wasn't fair to hold the last seat if the other person hadn't arrived.

I don't mind for your spouse in all honesty.. but for a GROUP of people? I don't think that's right.. esp. when people were standing all over the place and this lady was obviously not a regular commuter. she was only in NYC because of the holiday.. and mind you like I said in my other reply to this thread, the people never showed up! lol

Guilty as well. I usually get to my train a few minutes before DH does and i'll hold a seat for him. If the train is crowded however, i'll remove my bag if someone asks and DH ends up sitting somewhere else.
My usual train home is not very crowded for the most part, so me saving him a seat doesn't take anything away from anyone else
