Traveling internationally with 1 year old
I am traveling from jfk to rome with my 1 year old daughter and i have purchased a bassinet for her. I'm told that I am not able to bring the carseat on board with me but do you know if I will be charged to check in the carseat as an additional piece of luggage. I am flying Alitalia and can not get any answers over the phone or on their website.

Typically child safety items do not count as checked luggage in terms of maximums or fees

Re: Traveling internationally with 1 year old
I flew to Mexico from JFK with my 6 month old last year. I was able to bring the stroller and car seat to the gate. They tagged it and then had it waiting for me at the gate when we landed. I didn't have to pay for any additional baggage.
