Traveling with 11 month old and the Beach
What did you do with your DC at the beach ie pack and play, toys etc. Will I be able to entertain her enough to be outside all day? what shade did you use etc. TIA

Re: Traveling with 11 month old and the Beach
DS went to the beach a few times between 10 months and one year.
I brought a big blanket, pail and shovel and a few other little things. At that age he was VERY interested in the sand. He kept putting his hands in the sand and eating it. Then he would rub his eyes with sand hands and he'd get very upset.
You want a lot of wipes, but wipes can only do so much to get sand off. We learned to have a bucket of water nearby to quickly dip his hands in. (But far enough away that he didn't want to tip it.) And there is even a shower on the beach we frequent. (Only about 300 feet away, but it still didn't help for those quick cleanups.) And also have a clean towel to dry off the hands after cleaning. Wet hands attract more sand than dry hands.
Just know that sand gets EVERYWHERE and you will be prepared. Also, strollers don't roll on the sand.

Baby powder for the sand
Honestly, I never thought it was hard to take DS to the beach. I'd make sure you have an umbrella or a tent so DC can nap and they will be fine.
ETA-Kelly is right that strollers don't roll, but you can pull them backwards

Re: Traveling with 11 month old and the Beach
Does DC stay in the pack n play at home? I know when DS was that age and starting to walk, he wanted no part of the pack n play, and there was absolutely no way he would stay in it at the beach. But if DC will play inside it, maybe bring it.
We brought him around that age and watched him like hawks. He also put a lot in his mouth at that age, so we had to watch for rocks, driftwood, cigarettes, etc. All we brought was a blanket and umbrella, but as I've said, he wasn't staying in one place for long so any other gear wouldn't help really.

Re: Traveling with 11 month old and the Beach
Definately get a small pop up tent that you could put a blanket and lots of toys. The sound of the waves usually makes for great naps. It also keeps him away from the sand. They love to eat it.
Also, we live less than a mile from the beach and my DD has eaten probably 8-10 pounds of sand by now. It doesn't hurt them- just makes for strange poops!

Re: Traveling with 11 month old and the Beach
Here is the one my SIL had- it was great. Very lightweight too for packing..
beach tent
Also, does your resort have a pool? We took my DD to Mexico about 13 months old and she really didn't get into the beach there- it was just too hot. We LIVED at the pool though.
