Hi! This week we will be travelling 6 hours with our 5 month old. this is the first time he is going on a plane and I need tips for keeping him entertained and happy for the long haul. Also, tips re: what I must have in my carry on/diaper bag would also be great! TIA!!

That's such a great age honestly to travel, flying with DD was so easy then!! Chat Icon They are easily entertained so bring a few interesting toys, teethers, bottles (or a cover if you're BFing). If they are eating oatmeal, bring a bowl, spoon and some oatmeal in a ziploc baggie and then mix it with some formula/water/breastmilk in the bowl while in flight.

We flew when DD was 4.5 months old and she slept most of the way each time. I BFed her on take off and landing and in between if she got fussy.

We just got back from Disney last month when our DS was 5 1/2 months old...make sure you give yourself plenty of time!! We had no problem bringing the travel formula bottles through the check point..you can bring the stroller all the way up to the gate and they check it for you and it's right outside the door when you leave the plane! most importantly, feed your baby a bottle during take off and landing so it helps prevents their ears from popping! and make sure you bring enough for the plane! they really don't give you too many problems when you travel with a baby, at least they didn't with us! have fun!!

Bumping! Thanks ladies!
I'm very worried abotu the feeding at take off and landing because the times we are taking off and landing do not coincide with his feeding schedule and he WILL NOT eat outside of that time for anything. And to make things worse, he hates the paci! I'm sooo nervous! Anything else I can do to help the ears popping?!

Does he drink from a sippy cup yet? If so give him a little water.

I flew with DS when he was 5 months and it was very easy, compared to now that he's mobile.

He didn't drink for take off or landing, and he didn't take a paci either and had no problems.

For take off, he was just looking around and jumping on my lap. He eventually fell asleep and slept all the way until we had to get off the plane (it was only an hour and a half).

THANK YOU so much for posting!! I really needed to know that he may be ok if he doesn't drink during the take off and/or landing. I'm keeping fingers crossed that all goes well tomorrow!!!!!

if he won't eat, why don't you try and give him a bottle with just water in it, or, with water and a little apple juice
