Treadmill on Second Floor
Does anyone have their treadmill on the 2nd floor of their house?
Mine is currently in our garage and I would like to put it upstairs in one of the extra bedrooms with a tv but I'm worried it may be too heavy and you will hear the pouncing downstairs.....

Re: Treadmill on Second Floor
Is there carpeting or anything else that may help insulate the noise?
We live in an apartment building and we have a treadmill with carpeting underneath and our downstairs neighbor cannot really hear it too much. Our upstairs neighbor used to have a treadmill without carpeting and we could tell when they were on it but it wasn't really too noisy or annoying.

Re: Treadmill on Second Floor
The treadmill at my parents' house is on the second floor and they have carpeting in that room. You can hear it downstairs. It's not terribly loud but you can definitely hear when someone is on it.

There is carpeting in the room we are planning on putting it in.

Re: Treadmill on Second Floor
We did at my parent's house--however I recommend not putting it over the DR. We made that mistake once and it felt like the chandelier and all of my mother's china were going to come crashing down!!!! We promptly moved it to another room!

Carpeting should definitely help...but I think no matter what you will know when someone is using it.

We do - the room it's in is carpeted. We have no noise issues.

Re: Treadmill on Second Floor
We do. Our gym, including treadmill, elliptical, and weights are on the second floor.
We have hardwood floors in that room, but put down that interlocking gym flooring on top of it. (You buy it in packs at a sports store and lay it down yourself to protect the floor.)
You can hear it downstairs, but mostly because our treadmill is ancient and loud. You hear some of the "pounding" but it's not too bad.

Re: Treadmill on Second Floor
We do and it's loud. I actually hardly ever use it b/c it's so loud. We have carpet but it doesn't seem to help much.
