When we sold my parents' home last year (Town of North Hempstead), we had the same issue before it was sold. Before closing, WE incurred the expense of having the sidewalk repaired. If nobody makes waves, why would you fix it? We could go the nice route and watch NOTHING happen except Abby skin her knee a few times OR we can move things along, call the town and get it done in a timely fashion. Mind you if the town is involved, "timely" may just mean 7 months. But 7 months is a lot better than a year or longer.

I agree. Def call the town and let us know what they say. B/c discussing it with the owner will probably not be in your best interest for various reasons.Chat Icon Good luck!

They will still need to apply for the permit and an inspector from the town will have to come and agree to the tree being taken down.

It's $2K penalty if the town catches anyone cutitng a tree without a permit.

TOB will remove tree if it lifting the sidewalk by more than one inch. Your neighbor will not know you called. How do I know? The town removed 2-50 year old trees next door, because some one complained the one of the trees was lifting the sidewalk. The tree you show has liftted the sidewalk pretty bad.Normally I'd say watch where you walk. but this is pretty bad. The thing is that TOB is anti tree. They don't prune the trees they cut them down. My steet used to have quite a few trees. now much less
