Trigger Shot... can someone explain to me

what the benefits are for using it? I'm gonna use one this month cause that's what RE recommended but I still don't really "get" why...

I don't know what your particular issues are, but I used the trigger shot to control when I ovulated. I have luteal phase defect..meaning my luteal phase is too short.

It's so they can time ER or IUI, whichever you are doing. They know that 33-36 hours (someone correct me if I'm wrong about the hours) after the shot, you'll ovulate, so they can control when they go in and do their business.

Re: Trigger Shot... can someone explain to me

They asked me if I wanted to trigger and (because of the wealth of info from this board and amazing ladies) I said sure. For me this month, I have an insane weekend, so it was easier for me to trigger.
Also, last month I had near anxiety trying to time the OPK's correctly. So this took one thing off of my plate.

Re: Trigger Shot... can someone explain to me

I'm not doing iui but am doing timed BD. After the letrazole they mainly use the trigger to help with timing ovulation. You ovulate 12-36 hrs after the shot. If you are good with the opks you might not necessarily have to do the shot. But I also think its to prevent the follies from getting to big and over stiming, but I could be wrong. I am making this assumption based on something dr b said at my appt today.
