Trigger shot question...
So I had my sono today after my second round of Clomid this cycle and I have a 17.5, 16.5, 3 14.5's and the usual many under 10. He wants me to go back Thursday to make see what's going on and possibly get a trigger shot if I have 2 or 3 that are ready to go.
Do they give me the shot there? B/c I've been seeing alot on here that girls give themselves the trigger shot late at night and have their appointment early the next morning for an IUI or what-have-you. I can 100% tell you that I would NEVER be able to give myself a shot or have DH do it to me. Is this the only way it can be done or do they sometimes give it to you themselves?
I was all excited and now Im all at the thought of this!

Re: Trigger shot question...
I've had it done both ways. Once I gave it to myself, another time the nurse did it for me.
And, just FYI, when I did it to myself I felt NOTHING - not an OUNCE pain (I was so amazed!) - but when the nurse did it, I felt pain (not that bad, though), and the area where the shot went in stung for hours.
You'll be fine either way!

You would be surprised at what you can learn how to do. Hopefully, you won't need to.
I've heard it done both ways. I always gave myself the trigger because the timing worked out much better. It's nothing.

Re: Trigger shot question...
I feel nervous about this too! I haven't had to do it yet, but I have the trigger shot just sitting in my fridge... waiting for some mature eggies.......
Perhaps you can try numbing it with ice first!! BTW.. I did a few board searches about the trigger shot (ovidrel) and everyone says it's really not that bad and the needle is little!!!

Re: Trigger shot question...
I am a HUGE baby! DH gave me the trigger shot and omg did I cry....not from the actual shot itself it was painless I have a phobia of needles....it is the skin piercing thought that drives me to insanity....needless to say I pray this first IUI works so we dont have to do it again for now LOL
But all and all it wasnt bad now I know what to expect...but I have a hard time with ANY needle....you should see me get blood drawn

Re: Trigger shot question...
I agree with the other ladies....I HATE shots and can't even look when they draw blood at the doc. But, the Ovidrel needle is so little and thin, that it doesn't hurt at all. I amazed myself!!
Good luck

Re: Trigger shot question...
you can give it to yourself!! you can do it!! its really not that bad at all. if you ice the spot with an ice cube for 5-10 mins you really dont feel a thing. ive done two cycles of injectables and at first i was totally freaked out - but it gets easier!!
i would think the doctor would only do the injection for you if at the time of your appointment you are ready for it. i had to wait 36 hours after my appointment before i was ready for the shot so i didnt have a choice to have the doctor do it for me.
