True Blood Question - books and show

I want to read the books but now because I'm so into the series I don't want to spoil it...

So, what books can I read of the Sookie Stackhouse series that will not ruin the show for me?

Thanks!

They are similar but different enough that it won't spoil the show IMO.

Like the Maryann storyline that was all of Season 2, she was a minor part of book 2. The Godrick storyline was pretty different between the books and the show.

Tara's story is very different, as is Arlene's. This Nazi warewolf thing this season is new.

It's nice because even though I've read the books and know the characters and storylines the show is changed up enough that there are still surprises each week, you know?

I will say about the books the first one was a little tough for me to get through, but then the series really picked up. I've heard that from a few other people so I think that's a common experience.

I agree with this. I am done with 1-3. 2 and 3 were quick fun reads.

I don't know if it's because I read them last year and forgot some of the details but I don't find that it's spoiling the show for me at all. I'm currently on the 10th book.

I've read all the books - I say go ahead and read them. There may be instances where you know the "plot" ahead of time, but there are many differences, and I think you'll be able to appreciate the show even more!
