I can see this being true. DS is only 6 months old, was early to roll both ways, and is now crawling. He generally has reached all his physical milestones early but he is still not really babbling yet.

False - DS did both very early. His first word were at 6 months. He started pulling to stand and cruising at 6 months. He was taking steps at 9 months and walking at 10 months. He had a large vocabulary at 12 months and would "read" picture books. He knew all animals and their sounds. He was talking in sentences at 15 months.

not true for us! walked at 10 months (and 6 days) and spoke right on time to slightly ahead. Now at 2 years and 4 months she says things like, "Daddy, look! It's dark out there!".

false for me; I had an early walker (10 months) and an early talker. Now at 2 she speaks in paragraphs... all day long

dd walked at nine months. I remember being concerned at 18 months because she had only a few words. By two there was absolutely no more concern,,, she never stopped talking!

Don't know if it's T or F overall but it's true for DS. He was walking confidently by 11 months, at 19 months we still have no words. He gets EI for it.

I have never heard this before. Ds #2 walked at 10 months, and is competely verbal and conversational and he is 23 months....he has been like this for at least the last 4 months.

not sure but:
DD was a late walker early talker
DS early walker and turning out to be a late talker!

With DD I would have said yes as she walked at 10 1/2 months and was very active, climbing, running the works very early and her speech was slow until about 20 months.

DS is just as mobile as DD was and he has wayyyyyyyyyy more words so I dont know as I have two early movers and one has more to say

was not true for us. DD walked early and has always had an amazing vocabulary.

False for us. DS1 walked at 9 mos but began talking at 7 mos (words, not babble), so he talked before he walked.

I NEVER worry about any of these things but this is my experiance. Santino was physical early (crawling at around 7 months) but now that he is such a good crawler he does not have any interest in walking. HE stands and cruises all the time but as soon as you grab his hands to "walk" he would rather just crawl bc it is faster and easier for him.

As for talking he says about quite a few words and will try to repeat everything. He says:
Mama
Dada
Pa (grandpa)
"gain" (again)
nana (banana)
"Cole" Michael
Bear
"mooooo" for a cow
"moew" for a kitty
Duck
moon
spoon
"ma" grandma
"maw" more
moon
loon (balloon)

Some of these words you have to prompt him to say and some he says on his own.

Either way, he has a good vocab for his age (12 months) and he is not walking (although he is still very active when it comes to crawling and moving around)

On another note I heard good crawlers are later walkers??

DS said his first word before 10 mos and had an advanced vocab from that point forward. He was officially walking (more than just a couple steps here and there) by 2 days after his 1st b-day and probably within a week never walked again.....because he is always jumping or running the boy is a human junmping bean.

My DD started walking at 9.5 months and she does have a speech delay!

DS is opposite, he talks very well (50+ words) and at 15 months is only just starting to take independent steps. People said all the time that "oh babies either walk or talk first". That they put their energy into one thing. Not sure if it's a wive's tale or studied fact but I was not concerned.

Could be true. My DD said her first word around 7 months and was putting together 2 word sentences by 18 months.. she didn't walk until 15 months though.

DS1 & DS2 walked at nine months but didn't really talk until they turned two. But DD walked at 11 months (still kind of early) and she had a lot more words from 12 months on. So I think it just depends on the kid!

It wasn't true for Charlie. Her first words (cat & ball) were at 7 months & she took her first independant steps at 10 months. However she wouldn't let go of my index finger for almost 2 months after that lol but she had a 50+ word vocabulary by that time. She was climbing stairs at 7/8 months.

While I think it might be a general rule - bc kids at that age will often focus on one thing - I don't think it's an absolute (much like everything else lol).

Not really true for DD. She walked at 11 months and also had a few words already at that age (has more now at 13.5 months). I feel like she's a quick learner in general though and picks up on things (words, activities, hand gestures, etc) really quick.

this was true for us. Liam was extremely early with all things physical (walked just before 10 months). He didn't say much (babbled a lot) at around 12 months. Not till 15 months did the words start coming. By 18 months, there was a word explosion.

Now at 20 months he knows and says his letters, numbers & so many words!! No sentances yet, hoping for those soon!

Could be true. DS didn't crawl, but walked with help from 8 months on. Spoke early around 6/7 months, but hasn't spoken full sentences yet at almost 2 yrs old. But that could also have to do with being a boy.

My son was walking at 10.5 months. And he was fully conversational by 18 or so months...

My niece was literally running at 8.5 months...and is just beginning to combine words at 27 months...


so therefore...every kid is different...

I was wondering this myself. DD is ahead verbally and she started saying mama, lala and hi at 6 months (not that she knows what it means ), but barely rolls and is generally late on everything physical.
