Re: True or False...kids that walk early on take longer to learn to speak

in my case, definitely false

DD is 12.5 months old

she started walking relatively early at 11.5 months

she started talking very early, and has a very large vocab for her age (as/the Ped)

sooo, in my VAASST experience (insert sarcasm Chat Icon ) I'd say this is false. They all develop differently, at their own pace!

I was wondering this myself. DD is ahead verbally and she started saying mama, lala and hi at 6 months (not that she knows what it means Chat Icon ), but barely rolls and is generally late on everything physical.

OMG Sienna says hi?? Chat Icon Chat Icon

Yes, it is too stinkin cute! Then she smiles and goes lalalalalala!

From what I've seen some kids excel verbally, while others excel physically.

I do think that kids tend to concentrate on one skill at a time but that's not to say they only learn one thing at a time.

From my experience, a second child often seems to be more physical than verbal. I think it has to do with seeing their sibling crawl/walk around & wanting to imitate them.
