Re: Trump speech

I was very disappointed with it (not surprisingly). He painted a picture of a country in very dire times. He spoke as if our country is in shambles and has to be completely rebuilt from the ground up. His tone and message was not inspiring in the least bit. Instead it was almost exhausting. I was not a fan of President Obama's policies (although I like him as a person) but he did not leave our country in pieces. Yes, there are things that are broken and need to be fixed, but that's no different than the end of any other President's term. Some things always need to be changed or fixed. While I didnt like everything Obama did during his tenure, we did make significant progress as a country in certain areas. Trump's speech ignored that altogether, and that, I believe, is a true shame. I felt he discredited Obama and the successful things he did during his term and instead suggested that Obama has left this country in a state of chaos and corruption that he is going to work tirelessly to undo. Very, very disappointing speech.
I couldn't agree more.

Re: Trump speech
I found the tone to be arrogant and very dismal. You would think we just survived a zombie apocalypse and have to drag our ragged limbs around looking for other survivors. So far, not impressed and not surprised.

Re: Trump speech
I found overall it sounded more like a campaign speech. I also found parts of it uncomfortable--
"Today’s ceremony, however, has very special meaning. Because today we are not merely transferring power from one Administration to another, or from one party to another – but we are transferring power from Washington, D.C. and giving it back to you, the American People." --- said in front of all the politicians. It was just weird.

I read it online because I was out but I may try to see video because I didn't really have any kind of reaction, I thought it was a bit generic. I was surprised to see a pretty conservative Facebook friend express dislike for it, feeling that he had a chance to extend an olive branch and didn't.

Yes it was uncomfortable to watch that part since they were all sitting there but that was a main part of his platform starting out. That people were sick and tired of career politicians not getting anything done and to elect someone that didn't have political baggage. For some people that was a huge draw.

Any coincidence that he's painted this picture of mass destruction at the close of the first black president's tenure in office? And that he (and republicans) talk like they have to completely erase the legacy of the first black president, like it didn't happen at all, because being the incapable thug he is he left us all in shambles.... It's insulting, offensive, disgusting..... Instead of painting a picture of hope and BUILDING on the last president's legacy, and the president before that, etc. it's HIS job as our shining golden savior to tear it down and save us from the rubble we're currently buried in. It's what his campaign was built on. Nothing works better at riling up sheep than the call of the big bad wolf. FEAR is what fuels their actions. It's not a new thing.

Yup! Narcissist to the nth degree. And to add to my original statement, is there also any coincidence that HE'S been the one harassing the first black president for how many years now that he's a Muslim in hiding, not a US citizen, demanding he show his documents... Planting the seed of doubt in the public's mind from the beginning.... And now HE's the president?! A man with no experience and riddled with corruption, yuge lies, and every bit the dirty dirty politician he called others out on but claimed not to be...... If that's not a coincidence.... Now it's his job to save us from the ruins we're in.
