Tummy Time Mat - Yay or Nay?
So DS hates Tummy Time!!! We've been putting him in the BUMBO lately and trying to do Tummy time belly to belly with us. We also lift him up gently when he's laying on his back.
His neck stregnth isn't bad but I worry that by not getting tummy time he won't be able to do the mini-push-ups or roll over. I'm probably just being a neurotic new mother???
We never tried a tummy time mat...DS in general isn't really interested in toys...he likes it when we talk to him and move around with him over us putting a toy in front of him.
Should I get a tummy time mat? If you had one did you find it useful?? Please reccomend yours.
Am I just being crazy??

I did not have a tummy time mat but we did use the activity gym mat. If you have an activity gym I don't think you need both.

Re: Tummy Time Mat - Yay or Nay?
DS hated tummy time too, still does... but I regret not making him do it at least a few min at a time a few times a day. Because he's late to roll over and I believe that is why. He's ahead on everything else, except where it comes to the strength and agility associated with tummy time.
I really recommend you try a few minutes many times a day. We do now. I wish I knew a better why so that he's not so miserable when doing it, I try every single toy that he usually loves. I even tried putting him on the table so that we are close to eye level. I tried everything I could think of
To be honest when they hate it, it doesn't matter where you do it. We do it on our big bed with all the sheets cleared off and I roll around along side him to keep him wondering whats going on. Otherwise he'll get bored and start crying in 10 seconds.
We have an activity gym and a tummy time mat, it makes no difference.

We had one and never used it.
We used the "Tiny Love Gymini"
and would occasionally lay him on his belly. It seemed to keep him occupied on his back and belly.
You can also try laying him on your bed on his belly, then sit on the floor and talk to him that way.

Re: Tummy Time Mat - Yay or Nay?
We have one, got it as a gift..don't use it much. My dog actually uses it to nap on
We have an activity mat, DD doesn't really like that either, she rolls over to play with the hanging toys or cries until I take her out. My dog also loves this mat..running under the hanging toys. She's an attention wh0re..but anyway.
I'd say it's a waste to buy one, I do tummy time on my chest or in my bed with a soft blanket.
