Tummy time question - with pic -PIC FIXED

Hi!

I had posted a week or so ago about my DS's tummy time. I included this video link

link

someone had suggested I try to put his arms folded underneath him on the boppy and see what happens... and we had some success! Pic below.

I'm so proud of him!! But I do have one question... when I put him down flat - no boppy - he still doesn't lift up when I fold his arms underneath him.

Is that OK? Normal? Anyone else experience this?

He will be 11 weeks Wednesday.

Thanks for your help!

I am having the same issue with my twins...and they are 4 months old!
The Boppy works for them, also, but flat on the floor is a disaster. I think babies just mature at different rates.
Your son seems to be doing well with the Boppy, so I wouldn't stress about it.

AHHH I am reading this immediately flowing a SCREAM fest from DS for 10 minutes of tummy time. HE HATES IT! I don't do it often because he just goes nuts and I REALLY need to push it more. He is 4 months and able to turn his head straight when on his tummy and *slightly* lift it up (not much). I think this is a battle for most moms. I am just going to keep trying and maybe even let him CIO for 10 minutes or so. I need to get him off his head! It seems you are on target unless my DS is behind haha

DS up to 8 months despised being on his tummy. He even learned to army crawl, and would do it screaming the whole time. My ped never pushed it and never worried. He said we'll worry when he's not rolling over at 6 months, and its like DS heard him and decided to roll over a day before our 6 month checkup.

When I did tummy time, I put on Baby Einstein on my laptop put it a little higher than DSs eye level and give him 10 minute of "zone out" time.

Honestly, I don't know if this did any good or not, because he still always hated tummy time. And somehow still developed the skills to sit up, roll over, crawl, cruise and is nearly walking ahead of target. I almost now think it was a waste of precious time he could have just been learning about the world around him.

If boppy works, and he's fine exploring and playing this way. I think use it!

The laptop is a savior!! I must admit - I don't put in Baby Einstein videos - I YouTube a Mickey Mouse Cartoon! I know - I'm terrible!! But it keeps his attention and keeps his head up - so I am justifying it by telling myself that I am working his neck muscles so it must be OK Chat Icon

This is us...DS will be 5 months on Christmas Eve & if I lay him flat, he just can't seem to get the concept of getting up more then about 2 inches but that is just with his head. If I put him arms under him or some type of support, he pushes himself up & looks around.

Looking back at my first DS, I believe he didn't really push himself up until around 6 months or so...
