Tummy Time Question
OK, so DD is 2 months....When I place her on the mat I notice that if I don't put both her arms forward she can't move one arm to the front to push herslef up....on the other hand if I place her with both hands forward she can...should she be able to move her arm forward?? Does this make sense??

Re: Tummy Time Question
IMO way too little to have the strength to do that.

OK, I was starting to get scared there was something wrong, but she can pick her head up if I place her with both arms forward...woohoo!!!

Re: Tummy Time Question
That's great, at that age, my DD would put her head down and scream during tummy time

She's loved tummy time since the second we tried it....well love is a strong word, she doesn't seem opposed to it, and doesn't scream so I'm happy

Re: Tummy Time Question
Sounds good to me! DS hates tummy time with a passion...I'm sure some of you on LI have heard the screaming all the way from up here in CT!

Re: Tummy Time Question
Your daughter is doing well for her age with tummy time. Don't worry about her arms right now.
It's great that she loves it!

Re: Tummy Time Question
No, you have to set up their arms - it's not just a strength issue, it' a motor planning issue as well - even if she were strong enough, she is not aware enough of her body to figure out what needs to move where. She will be uncomfortable and not really know what to do to figure out how to situate herself....

Re: Tummy Time Question
we put on DS on his tummy at least a half hour a day. He's 5.5 weeks old and can't not push himself up (his neck is up and sorta one arm). He's not moving his hands forward yet.
WTG for your little one
