Uggghh...just got a call from TJ's nursery school teacher
I knew it was coming. He is being a little aggressive with other kids and is having a little bit of a hard time with the structure (sitting still during circle time, etc). She said he is not the only one...there are a few other boys that are a little bit "wild" as well. There are 17 kids in his class. I feel like that is a lot for him.
I have posted on here so many times that my child is (or was) the LEAST aggressive child ever. I have seen that change over the past couple of months. He is very sensory seeking so his OT recommended that we rough house with him alot. Well I think it back fired because I can't explain to a 3 yr. old it is ok to rough house with mommy, daddy and poppy but not other kids or at school. I have been stopping the rough housing at home to try and curb it outside of the house but I guess it isn't working.
I was concerned about his attention span. He needs a lot of redirection and help focusing on one thing at a time. The school district did not offer me a SEIT because at the time they didnt see a need for it. They said I could come back at any time and request a meeting if the teacher feels he needed one. His teacher and I are going to give it a few more weeks to see if he adjusts. His new OT and speech teacher have also mentioned his need for constant redirection.
He had come such a long way with EI and than when he didnt qualify to move to the district services I had to wait a few months to get him re-evalauted and than of course the services didnt start until September so I feel in those 6 months without services he regressed slightly in some areas.
I told the teacher I am hoping now that he started services things will turn around because he was very receptive to EI and did a 180.
ETA: he was in the same school last year but in the 2 year old program. I spoke to his teachers several times and they never had any concerns. The class was also 7 children and 2 teachers. His class now is 17 kids and 2 teachers. I knew the larger class size was going to be alot for him. Not sure if I should try to find a smaller program.

17 children for 2 teachers does seem quite high. DD's school's 3yr old program has a cap of 12 children per 2 teachers.

I definitely think your instinct was right here....you knew the class size was going to be an issue. You can see if he adjusts and things get better, but I think 17 kids of that age with two teachers is very disproportionate. Your little guy needs some closer, more individualized attention and would likely do better in a smaller program. Just my opinion, but coming from a Special Ed teacher and the mother of an aggressive 2 year old.
Good Luck

I know it is so hard. I will share that my DS had a hard time when he changed school with being aggressive (throwing objects, hitting, etc) the first few days. After a few days,( some strong encouragement prior to the start of the day, and reward or consequences after the school day was over) he acclomated and we haven't had a problem since.
