I think you need to go back and read the first page of this thread and you will see why you were called hostile. You seem completely oblivious to it each and every time you are snotty and rude, and flip it around on everyone else. This exactly. I am in awe of how clueless you are to your nasty words to people trying to HELP calm you down , over what we clearly said was either typical or an error and to which we continually told you would be fixed and to relax b/c thankfully it was not a huge amount of money.
It was almost as if you wanted to hear people say, " OMG OMG, your NEVER gonna get your money back!!!!!!! OMG those A$#$holes STOLE your $30, OMG the INSANITY...THE AUDACITY of it ALL! "
Is that better?
ETA- and before its even brought up...I came back to this as I was catching up on LIF after playing with my things called kids for a day.

Re: Ugh, angry overcharged
Did the amount adjust yet? I'm genuinely curious! I've never had this happen, and if they can adjust it to a lower amount, why can't they do a higher amount if you signed for it. I generally have very little $$ on my card and have come down to having JUST enough at times (and left a cash tip). So if I didn't have any extra, would certain restaurants not be able to process my bill? I do think its kind of ridiculous that restaurants will hold $$ that I may need to spend on other things. Gas only holds $1 for me.

Yes, the situation did work out.
And the restaurant also was gracious enough to return my call even though they weren't open because of the snow storm.
I STILL have never had such a thing happen before this, but because of LIF once again, will certainly be well informed in the future.

Crap!!! I was in the midst of travel and just got on now. It's my turn I always love these threads turning into drama and semantics and being able to read it for the craziness it really entails. The ending is always bittersweet. Hysterical as usual. Usual expectations for sure. Hope you got your money back. Good post for those of us that truly were unaware of possible charges. Obviously your not the first. Thank you for making us aware.

Ugh, angry overcharged
I am glad it worked out. This has happened to me before at some restaurants, depending in what restaurant and which card we use.

Ugh, angry overcharged
This answer is a day late and a $ short, but anecdotally.... I waitressed at Pizzeria Unos in high school and one night towards the end of my shift I fainted right in the dining room. They sent me home, but I forgot to close out my tables and enter cc tips in the computer system. The next couple of days, Unos received quite a few calls from customers who were charged a different amount on their credit card/ debit card statement than what their total bill + tip should have been. I have no idea if they were "pending" charges or the funds were actually withdrawn, but apparently Pizzeria Unos does withhold X amount until the tip is entered. So if you are against that, definitely don't eat there! Although I'm not even sure if there are any left in Long Island anymore!
Btw, did it turn out that the restaurant made a mistake and switched receipts and cards, add the cash tip as a CC tip, or did they withhold extra money on purpose?
