Ugh.. another gas/formula question...
She is miserable!!!
We switched to Enfamil Gentlease and its been over a week and I havent seen much improvement.. if anything it has been worse the last couple of days.
I even tried switching to Dr browns bottles and she just seems so uncomfy. she screams during her bottles when she gets a gas bubble and will burp, be content for a few minutes and then repeat. Forget it when she needs to have a BM (they arent hard AT ALL but i think she gets gas pains prior to having them).
Ive tried the mylicon and little tummies gas drops and nothing seems to make her happy.
Should I try switching again? If so, I have goodstart coupons.....which kind would be good for her?

Call your ped. But I will say it took up to 10 days for my DS to be better on the Gentlease, after that, he was a different baby.

Ditto for us (except we used Similac Sensitive instead, only b/c I like the bottle better and got more Similac coupons than Enfamil).

Re: Ugh.. another gas/formula question...
Ds HATED gentlease. I felt that it made him worse and he spit up a lot more with it.
I was impatient though. We gave the new formula's only a week to work. Then we switched to another kind. DS was in just TOO MUCH pain to sit around and hope it worked.
My ped said it takes 7-10 days. But like i said, we didn't want to wait the full 10 days. Once we switched to Alimentum, we noticed a difference within like 3 days.

Re: Ugh.. another gas/formula question...
How old is DD? Have you had the ped check the stool for blood? I had no idea until they did that DD has a milk allergy..made a huge difference going to the hypoallergenic formula. dont get me wrong, it has taken 10 weeks to figure the right formula out but she was screaming with bottles, gassy and it turned out to be reflux and a milk allergy. Hang in there, i would take in a dirty diaper to the Ped office just to rule it out, took them 10 secs to check it for me...

Re: Ugh.. another gas/formula question...
The only formula we had luck with was the good start (orange can). But it's all dependant on what she tolerates the best, every baby is different so unfortunately it's a guessing game. Our ped said we should be seeing improvement by 4 days so if it's been a week and she isn't even a little better I would say think about switching again. Also, try the RTF first- I think that made a big difference with DS compared to the powder. Only recently were we able to give him powder without major gas issues.

Re: Ugh.. another gas/formula question...
Oh Jen, I'm so sorry your little Sadie is going through this. My nephew had milk protein allergy. It was determined that b/c they didn't catch the problem early enough, the reflux from the allergy had done some damage (not permanent) and until he healed internally my sister just had to deal.
It took about 6 weeks for the "burns" inside to heal.

Did you try the Playtex Drop ins? I forget.
Mylicon did nothign for us. Only thing that worked was switching to Similac Sensitive (similar to Gentlease I hear).
It sux, I know! Poor babies.

Re: Ugh.. another gas/formula question...
I had the same problem with gentlease. It made him fussier and gassier! We ended up on Similac Sensitive RS and I saw a huge improvement. It also helps with his reflux.

Poor baby ....If for some reason she does stay on the Nutramigen, find out from your insurance if they will cover it ...Its $$$$ and I know someone who got it covered by insurance

Me too, alimentium made a huge difference, i still had to switch her again due to the allergy being so severe..she is on Neocate now

Re: Ugh.. another gas/formula question...
Talk to your ped. We thought DS had gas and we gave mylicon with every bottle to no avail.
Turned out he had acid reflux. His ped recommended Mylanta and once he used it, it was like we had a whole new, and happy, baby.

If you are going to use Nutramigen call your insurance co. and see if they'll cover it.
