Ugh! Deciding which Health Plan Edited for more info
It's that time of year again... Open Enrollment
We have UHC through my company and always went with the cheapest. THis year it's a family of 4 (DH, myself, 2 year old and baby). DH said get the cheapest again. I know there are a ton of factors to think of. Also, we were bought out by another company. They are still with UHC, but there are 3 choice... Select, Choice and Quality Which do you go with and why?
See, this is one of the main reasons I WFT is b/c I cover the benefits for the family. Good news with this plan is the co-pay is $10 for sick visits! I was paying $30 last time
ETA - more info on the plans below

Re: Ugh! Deciding which Health Plan
you need to factor in what the difference in price is in relation to why it is more money. With two kids, which one offers unlimited well visits? How much are prescriptions? Do either of you wear glasses? Does one include optical over the other? How much are prescriptions? Kids are always sick so the cost of copays are important.

Re: Ugh! Deciding which Health Plan
For us in deciding between the standard and high option i went with price. The high option was 1700 more per year. So i figured in the difference between the copays and whatever and actually wound up saving money going with the cheaper one.
We always took the higher option to have less out of pocket expenses, last year we switched to the cheaper one and saved money, and we're a family of 5.
They do have some comparison websites out there to check out the plans benefits and figure out what you'd need.

Are there any plans without a deductible? I am not a fan of them and prefer co-pays.

no, they all do at least my co-pays will go down. I was at Wee Care so much with Mason last Fall and Winter paying $30 a sick visit! THey're all $10 so that's huge. Let's just hope I don't have to go

Id go with the select plan. Do all the drs you and your family see participate in all of these plans? If so Id go with the cheapest one.

What is the difference in price per paycheck? That would affect my decision.
ETA - Sorry, misread your post.
I'd go with the cheapest one too since the co-pays are the same...

Sorry with all the info in various places - I'm not sure I am reading it right. Are they HMO's or PPOs? Because that would make a difference to me. Can you go out of network if you need to?

If i am going to be forced into paying a deductible, which I find to be a terrible trend in HC, I would go with the cheapest plan.
