Ugh, first major fall today

What an afternoon! I feel like the worst mommy and my nerves are totally shot. My DD (1 next week) fell into a metal bed frame today--right after I said, we should get her out of this room, I don't want her near the frame (it was just delivered, so it's an empty frame). I was right there, but of course, she went down so fast. Yet, it was like slow-mo to watch. I scooped her up and immediately saw blood from her mouth. It was a lot of blood. I wiped her down and gave her some water and then ice in the mesh feeder. I finally got a look in her mouth and could tell one of her top teeth didn't look right. I thought she broke her tooth. There was so much blood, I couldn't get a good look. We called the ped, who referred us to ped dentist. He took us right away. Fortunately, her tooth isn't chipped. It's slightly pushed back, but the dentist says because the tooth is not in all the way (she just got this one about a month ago) and the roots aren't set, it *should reposition itself. We need to recheck it in a week. He said that she should still have a good blood supply so there's a strong chance it won't discolor. I gave her some tylenol and really soft foods for dinner. She was acting like her usual silly self before bed.
Thank God kids are resilient, but ugh, mommy is shot. I hated seeing her in pain like that and seeing her bleed. I know, welcome to parenthood! I know it could've been worse too and we could've been in the ER.

On a positive note, I can't say enough about the pediatric dentist, Howard Schneider, and his staff. They were wonderful. I'll be going back there when she's ready for her first checkup/cleaning.

Uuuggghhh I am so sorry. I hope she feels better. It's so scary. And mouths seem like so much more blood.

Thanks ladies. I started to freak at first, but I knew that would only upset her more. So I stayed as calm as I could be, even though I felt sick inside. My mom, on the other hand, who raised two kids, and works in a pediatric office, was so not calm (she was over when it happened). I had to tell her to get together a couple of times. She said it seems different with her grandchild than it did with her own kids.

Oh wow, that's scary! Things like this always seem to happen when you're RIGHT there, but just out of reach to stop it from happening!

Awww poor baby and mommy! Don't beat yourself up over it. I had a simular thing happen to ds on thanksgiving with a folding table. I thought to myself I should move it and I didn't and it fell right on his head. He wound up being ok. I took the experience and learned from it ..if I second guess if anything is dangerous it probably is and I take care of it that second.

On a side note I turned for a.second today and ds cracked his head on the corner of the wall. Instantly he had an egg the size of a.golf ball and a huge bruise. I felt terrible! But.even my MIL who criticizes everything I do says things happen.

Ah man, thats tough. Its so hard not to feel terrible about something like that. My gorgeous daughter broke her front tooth at 18 months and it was terrible, but after about 6 months of getting used to it, it makes her who she is, a mischevious little girl.

But honestly, I want to say don't beat youself up about it, but its so hard not to. I was sobbing when it happened to Immi. Sobbing. I do know how you feel. I really do. I hope its okay!
