How did all of your other tests come out? This is just a marker, usually baby would need several or all markers of Down's, which would be more on an indication.
Did your ultrascreen and afp come out ok?
I am praying the genetic counselor can ease your fears.
My other tests were fine. What scares me is that I have family history of Downs and severe retardation [on my mom and dad's side.] Thanks for your prayers!
Echogenic cardiac foci in and of itself only rarely results in a baby with birth defects...Did the technician/doctor find any other markers that are indicative of Down Syndrome? There are about 10 of them.
You will find online rather conflicting opinions whether or not Echogenic Cardiac Foci is indicative of Down Syndrome or a normal variant.

In most cases Down Syndrome isnt inherited or a "family trait". FM me...

I just wanted to add that my doctor has also said that it is not inherited. My mom's sister has severe down's syndrome and i was nervous about this practically my whole life. When I first found out I was pregnant I brought this up to my doctor and he said it would not impact my chances of having a baby with downs. Good luck!! Try to stay positive.
