UPDATE: 7/27/2011---First L & D trip and now on hospital bedrest (triplets)

Well, after an uneventful pregnancy, I was admitted to the hospital Tuesday @ midnight due to contractions. Everything is well now, contractions almost gone, Baby A is 3.16 lbs, Baby B is 3.13 lbs and Baby C (my little one) is 3.10 lbs. I am officially on hospital bedrest! Trying our best to hold off to 34 weeks. Cervix is still long and closed, so we have a good chance. Whatever it takes as long as they stay in longer.

7/15/11---UPDATE

I was transferred from L & D to a regular room last night at around 10:30PM. My contractions are almost gone I am getting one maybe every hour and a half that last about maybe 20 seconds. I don't have all the monitors on me anymore. I had four on my belly for two days and it was getting painful and irritating my skin. Unfortunately, I am still on the magnesium sulfate and there is no end in sight for that My doctor wants to keep me on it for the duration until I deliver. He thinks I will last 4 more weeks I don't mind 4 more weeks, but I am getting all the side-effects for the magnesium ( light headed, headaches, blurred vision, lack of energy, acid reflux, etc) Not fun at all I am trying to be as strong as I can, but I finally broke down today. I just want my babies to be healthy and it all seems to point that way. Heart beats are strong and they keep jumping around. I got the steroid shots just in case. My cervix is still closed and long. So, unless my cervix changes or I break water, I will be here until my boys are born. I keep praying and pushing myself for them.

7/16/2011--UPDATE
Today was a really tough day on the magnesium sulfate. All of the side-effects hit me at once They had to call my doctor and take me off it for about an hour. OMG! It is horrible! Today was officially my 4th day on it! Well, needless to say that once I was feeling a bit better, I was put right back on it

I am still not able to take a full shower and I feel so dirty
even though I have been washing myself every morning and evening with wash cloths, baby wipes, have my lotions and changing gowns and bed sheets.

7/17/2011---UPDATE
* Last night was interesting. At around 1:30AM the lights on the whole Tower 3 or the Hospital went off and the back off generator only was good for the essentials. Lights were not fixed until 5:30am or so. According to the nurse, the rest of the hospital was ok, and our tower was the only one having problems. I have never been in a hospital where it takes them so long to fix anything. I wonder what happened??? Thankfully, my DH had brought me a fan that same night. and the AC was actually still working. Between the fan and AC, I was able to have a good restful night (within reasons and as restful as you can in a hospital stay). So far this morning my side-effects to the magnesium sulfate have not shown their ugly face but then again....they don't usually do until after 11:30 am to about 6pm.....ahhhhh!

* Like clockwork....side-effects showed their ugly face around 11:30am and it lasted quite a bit. I was able to convince the nurse to allow me to take a shower. Since my IV needed to be changed, it was agreed. So, between changing the IV and taking a shower I took an hour or so break from the magnesium sulfate

07/18/2011--UPDATE

*Good news this morning My doctor took me off the magnesium sulfate and put me on procardia. I will be monitored for another day or so and see how I react on it. I might go home by tomorrow...YAY!!!!
Cervix is closed and I have not broken water. I am only having Braxton Hicks contractions (which are normal) at about one every 4 to 5 hours or so

Praying that I will be able to go home soon!!!

* I spent the night cramping here and there. At first, I thought it was gas, but they were contractions. At 5am I couldn't stand it anymore and told my nurse. I was sent to L & D yet once again This time the contractions were not just pressure, but really like really bad period cramps (you know, the ones where you can't even get up from the bed). Anyway, after checking my cervix it was determined that my cervix is tightly closed and I have not broken water (the two requirements to deliver) so I was put back on the magnesium sulfate Since my contractions were so painful, I was given pain medication while the magnesium will take effect. Well, I had a bad reaction to the combination and had to be put on air supply Babies are doing great!! and very active. Magnesium worked and so my journey continues....

*At 5am, I was transferred back to the floor (out of L & D). I am now stuck with the Magnesium Sulfate until 36 weeks and I am 33 weeks now. (my doctor wants me to make it to 36 weeks ) Is he crazy????? I am really hoping that my body builds a tolerance to it, because the side-effects are going to kill me!!!! I don't wish this to my worst enemy. The only thing that gets me going is the fact that if I do make it to 36 weeks, the babies might come home with me. I am trying to survive this

* Had a rough night. Couldn't sleep for some reason and was going to the bathroom every 1 1/2 to pee. Mind you, every time I go to the bathroom, I have to wheel my magnesium sulfate with me and disconnect the machine. I have to connected back once I get to the bed I am so tired!!! Who said you rest in hospitals obviously has never been admitted.
At least I got some good news today. My doctor told me that since I am responding so well to the magnesium sulfate, he is going to take me off it on Monday and put me on a double dose of procardia... OK let's try that again!!! I hope it works because I don't want them stopping my labor again!!!
Today is officially my 10th day in the hospital. I guess I should not complain since there are some other ladies who have been on hospital bedrest for much longer than I have.

* My magnesium sulfate pump was removed this morning and a double dose of Procardia was provided instead. Praying this works
* Today is officially my 13th day in the hospital and 34 weeks prego....
*Babies have healthy amount of fluid, blood flow, and heartbeats
*Get to take a shower and wash my hair today

* A full day on double dose or Procardia and it seems to be working


*Doctor said another day or so of observation and if it continues to work, I might even be able to go home on full bed rest. Hey...."some is better than none".

*Today is officially my 14th day in the hospital (2 weeks....WOW) but well worth it!!! It seems like I might actually make it to 36 weeks...who knows! Anyway, I have made it to 34 weeks and that is an accomplishment in itself with triplets. I am so happy!!!!

******12:58pm---Highlight of the day-----Doctor just came in and since I am doing so well the plan is that I will go home tomorrow with a Procardia prescription.

07/27/2011---

* I am going home

*Just waiting for a growth ultrasound before leaving the hospital

*Doctor told me that if I have contractions again, they will stop my labor and put me on magnesium again SAY WHAT? I mean, I am 34 weeks already!! They really want me to make it to 36 weeks ...37 weeks was even mentioned YIKES!!!! The only way they will deliver the boys is if I break water! Not what I wanted to hear......these boys better stay put until 36 weeks Can't wait to see how much they weight! YAY!!!

* Never thought I would last this long with triplets! God is amazing! So happy!

1:00PM----OMG! I am having big babies....

Baby A is 4.15 lbs

Baby B is 4.12 lbs

Baby C (still my little one, but everything is good with him) is 4.1 lbs

I am carrying over 13 lbs of baby, not counting the placenta and amniotic fluid. No wonder I can hardly walk

So, if I make it 2 more weeks....baby A and B can easily be over 5 1/2 lbs. I never thought they will weight so much!!! I am not a big girl. I am 5'2" on a good day and my initial weight before becoming prego was maybe 125 lbs. Go figure! I am just so blessed!! Thank you God!!!!
