UPDATE! engagement ring: WWYD?!
ok.. so my parents have a beach house down in NC. we went down there last summer (2007) with my family. DH and i rented a sailboat so i had taken my ring off so i didn't loose it in the water. WELL.. i ended up not being able to find it when we got back! we had all my aunts and uncles and cousins looking for it, checked everything ALL over... didn't find it. SO i bought a new set that looked almost exactly the same.
WELL fast forward to this morning... we're in a different part of NC for DHs cousins wedding. I was packing some stuff away, look on the bed and i see the engagement ring!! now it looks just like my new one so at first i thought i had forgotten to put it on or something.. but nope! it was the one i had "lost" oevr a year ago!! it must have been in one of the suitcase pockets that i thought we checked a million times after i lost it!
so needless to say, i am THRILLED!! BUT... now i have 2 engagement rings that are almost exactly the same. i
upgraded the stone in the new one a little bit, but they are very similar. sooo WWYD?? keep both because the one is the one DH proposed with? or sell one of them to "get back" the money we put out for the new one??
UPDATE: thanks for all your responses and ideas, girls!! i'm soo excited that i found it after so long!
i'm not super sentimental so i decided that i think i'm gonna have the stone from teh first ring made into a necklace/pendant ( yes, some people do wear pendants  ) and then sell the band for some $$. its white gold with channel set diamonds most of the way around it.
i think this will be good because i'll get to keep some of teh sentinment, AND get some money, too! good compromise  thanks again for all the ideas!

Being someone who isn't sentimental, I would sell it and do something that I really wanted with the money.

That's so amazing that it turned up a year later!!
If it were me, I would keep the ring that he proposed with... but I'm a sentimental person. I would definitely not keep both though. You should sell one of them and use the extra cash for something nice for you guys.
If the diamond is a factor, I guess you could put the new upgraded diamond in the old setting, and then you'll have the best of both worlds.

I'm w/ this thinking as well... though I doubt I'd sell either one.  I'd probably put the newer one away for a rainy day if $$$ was really tight- or if not then I'd save it for our kids.

I don't know what i'd do with one of the rings but I think that's so awesome that your old one turned up, Congratulations! LOL I was quick reading and thought at first you thought your ring was stolen by a cousin since it turned up at a different family member's house. i'm glad it was a hidden in the luggage issue. whatever you decide to do with it, enjoy!

This is exactly what I was thinking. I would probably start wearing the "original" ring again and make the "new" one into a pendant.
