UPDATE: IVF # 2 – Prayer Needed (Long)

I am so emotionally exhausted…

We had our egg retrieval on last Thursday, 7 eggs retrieved this time. Not a good number, but DH kept telling me quality is better than quantity. Ok, I agree!

I got a call from Dr. Rosenwaks on Friday, and it was not good news. If you recall one of my post back in December for our 1st IVF cycle with a different clinic, the eggs retrieved were immature and with abnormal zona. Once again, we got the exact same result this time… But Dr. Rosenwaks said there is ONE egg retrieved that potentially can be workable. So he called me again yesterday (on Saturday), said the lab performed ICSI on the egg, and seems like it is growing, and they need to keep watching it, and will call me again this morning for the status.

I got a call from a nurse this morning, she said the lab is still watching the embryo, and still couldn’t decide if the embryo is good enough for transfer. And I have to wait ONE MORE DAY! They will call me tomorrow to let me know how the embryo is doing.

DH and I are fighters, we don’t give up easily. So we are hoping our little embryo is as strong as his/her mom and dad.

I have never asked for any prayers before. But I think today is the day that I really really really need some prayers and some emotional support. Please keep us in your prayers. We will do the same for everyone else who’s suffering from IF.



UPDATE (03/06/09) ----------
First of all, I would like to thank everyone of you for your prayers.

I got the call from Dr. Rosenwaks today. The embryo was fertilized, but did not divide. This is the end of the road for our 2nd IVF cycle. As much as I hate the result, but I think it brings peace to me. And look at the bright side, at least I don’t have to wait for phone calls anymore.

I asked Dr. R about our options, and he said they are going to look at those eggs, and see if there is anything they can find in them. He asked me to follow up with them in a couple of weeks. Since I didn’t get a firm answer from him on the phone as to our future plans, this is making me a little un-easy. Not knowing what to do for couple of weeks really $ucks. I really feel Cornell is one of the top fertility center in the country already, and if they can’t help me, who can? I am so confused. I really don’t know what to do now…
