Actually, no I have awesome credit. The limit on that card was over $15,000 and I wanted it lowered to $600 because all I use the card for is gas.
I have another card tucked away with a high limit just in case.
Just so you know your score is derived form a variety of factors-debt utilization is on so if you are charging that card up to its limit each month it may still be lowering your score so it might eb worth it to get teh limit increase and not use the extra. All utilization should be in the 30-40% range

I would call them - forget the email, get an acual person on the phone you can have a real-time conversation with. Tell them you are a loyal customer, have never been late, all that and tell them you want the money refunded. If they refuse tell them you want to close your account. They won't want to lose your business.

I agree..Call them instead of emailing.
This happened to me in the past, and I called and asked them to remove the charge from my account. They did it as a one time "favor" and because I was a good customer.

Call them, and keep calling and talk toa supervisor, and don't stop until you get the charge removed. They usually WILL remove it.
I've had alte fees removed when i called up and I was like "Look, I just forgot, I've been busy and blah blah" and if you have a good reciord they will take it off.

UGH!! i feel for you!! this exact thing happened to me last month... it was with my debit card, and instead of it just being declined when i went to buy stuff, it just kept going through and i got 3 overdraft charges for like $30 each!! sooo annoying! i called the bank and complained,explaining that i also have a savings account with them and had i known my checking was low, i would have just transferred money... but all they said was " well, why aren't you enrolled in our overdraft protection program?" so, i got set up for that,and she was only "able" to waive one of the overdraft fees for me.. but, i totally feel your frustration- i think its just another way for the bank to make a few extra dollars

I agree you should call them and speak to someone directly. You are a good customer and the customer service rep should be able to remove the charge for you

DH has a low credit limit too and I realized this past month that he went over...by about the same amount as you. This happened once before and they gave us back half the money. It's so annoying that they don't just deny the card once it reaches it's limit. Why even have a limit if there really isn't one?

I would just call. If you are not satisfied with the first rep ask to speak with a supervisor. Make sure you keep track of their names and rep # if they make promises so that you can follow up.

i would switch cards
my capital one allows me to go over the limit, but as long as you make a payment that month that puts you under, they don't charge the $39 fee

Thank you for all your suggestions and feedback. Finally my $39 was refunded! I had to call an talk to a person. I like email, because it documents everything.
But at least I got my $$ back!

That is the stupides thing I have ever heard. Usually a credit card company will credit you if you are in good standing, which you are. This is dumb rule. I would cancel the card immediately.
