Update on my Roscoe Scroll down for update...

My cat has kidney stones, the vet said 6 to 7 of them the size of half a pebble in his bladder. He is having surgery Tuesday or Wednesday. I have not had any sleep in days been having panic attacks etc. I am just so nervous for my furbaby. The vet is pretty confident and encouraging he will get them out. It has been some roller coaster of a week, we were on vacation in Las Vegas and we are finally home. Has anyone on here gone thru this with there cat? Can I have some prayers too ? I keep thinking of my poor Roscoe! So upset right now.

Re: Update on my Roscoe

Update- Roscoe had 8 to 9 small stones removed, the size of half of a small pebble. he has internal and external stitches. Apparently he is grumpy and the vet had to sew a lot of his "fat" back in, LOL. He kept the catheter in last night and will have to keep his satellite dish on for 10 days when the stitches come out. The vet said he is peeing in the catheter. He also said he is right where he should be. Which makes Mommy happy. He said he is not totally out of the woods yet b/c he is still there, but we should rest easily, his surgery went like a textbook. I on the other hand am still a nervous wreck, but got some sleep last night finally. I will get updated again in a little while. Tomorrow I think the vet will be telling us when he is coming home.

ETA- Thank you all for your continued prayers and emotional support during this- it is so much appreciated.

Aww, poor kitty and poor kitty's mommy. I hope he has an easy recovery. Ask the vet if you can use a soft e-collar. I got one on amazon (kong ez soft collar) for my kitty when she had a lumpectomy and she tolerated it very well, much better than the satellite. I'm not sure if the soft one would work depending on where roscoe's incision is.

I have no idea how you feed, but we had a male cat who was fed exclusively dry food and ended up in a similar situation. Unfortunately they couldn't clear my cat's blockage and after a lot of surgery and horrible, lethargic recovery time we had to put him down :( Obviously your situation sounds much better, but apparently male cats need wet food as well as dry food to make sure these things don't happen. So my suggestion to you would be to make sure he's getting wet food!! Good luck, and don't let my bad ending scare you...nobody ever told us he was recovering nicely and on schedule so you've got a leg up there!

Re: Update on my Roscoe Scroll down for update...

Update- We saw Roscoe yesterday, he was meowing when he saw us. I was crying like a baby. He has the catheter in still, and he is peeing like a champ. We spent an hour and a half there, and he feel asleep in my hands. Every day I get nervous when we have to call to see how he is. I can't stand that he is there and we are at home. They said they are going to hold him over the weekend, just to make sure, I know it s for his own good, but I am crazed already. I did get some sleep last night, but am very anxious to get him home already! They are going to have to change his food so this does not happen again. I will update more when I know. Thank you for all of your support and concern, it means a lot to us.

Re: Update on my Roscoe Scroll down for update...

At work right now but will write more later. Yesterday was a hard day on aLl of us. He was not eating and sleeping most of the day. I was a wreck. I started to put it all together and it was the antibiotic he was on on top of the antibiotic shot. He was very sleepy. Overnight he started to act more like himself. He slept in his cat bed upstairs and drank water this morning! He is still peeing in drips and drabs , the vet said it is normal and his stitches are bothering him. The vet is seeing him later today. I will update when I get home. Thank you again all of you for your prayers and concerns!!!
