We just hired a photographer here in Charlotte to take DS' newborn portraits. It's $150 for the shoot, and $350 for a CD with 25 hi-res images. If we want the whole thing in hi-res (about 100 images), she is asking $1200.
Exorbitant? Maybe. But even though WE are in the pictures, SHE is the artist.
Of course, I had to read and sign a lengthy portrait agreement that laid all this out ahead of time.
I agree with the OP, see if she is willing to sell you the low-res files. I plan to ask this, too, because I can't imagine not being able to share our new photos on FB!
not trying to sway you at all, but I have a great photog that charges MUCH less....lmk if you want her info for the future
Thanks I had a very specific style I was looking for, and this woman was it. We'll see how it goes.

Re: Update: Photographer not releasing our pictures (long)
I got in contact with the photographer and she said she would give us the CD for a reasonable fee. She actually apologized for the miscommunication. She doesn't normally release but she said she wanted her client to be happy.
I'm so glad I asked on here first. My tone was nice and she was nice. I probably would have started with an upset angry tone if you LIF moms didn't educate me on standard photography standards.
Thank you.
I'm going to end up buying some pictures from her anyways. Everyone is happy.
