UPDATE: Poor baby just had a 103.5 fever due to MMR shot.
I felt so bad for her. She is doing better now. Her temp is down to 99.5, but yesterday it went up to 103.5 and we couldnt get it any lower than 101.4 even with meds. My poor baby was so out of it. She would just lay on our shoulders and stare out and not even react when we walked in the room. She has a cough and runny nose too, but the fever is probably from MMR the dr said, so she probably has two different things going on. Thank God she perked up today. I was so happy to see her little personality come back. Sooo scary! ETA: Thank you everyone! Unfortunately after I wrote that her fever spiked up to 102.6 again. Its going on day 4 now but has dropped again. If it goes back up again I have to take her back in. This is her 1st reaction and 1st fever...so scary...

That happened to Cailen. It was scary. His heart was racing and he was very lethargic, we had to race him to the ped. Luckily the motrin kicked in by the time we got there and he was back to normal, but its so scary... I hate shots!!!

Oh I'm so sorry it is very scary when they get reactions to the shots. DD got 104 and a rash with her MMR and it was the first time she ever had a reaction to a shot - we couldn't get it down past 102 with meds. The good news is that it is a short reaction 1-3 days. I think DD only had a fever for about 36 hours.

Re: UPDATE: Poor baby just had a 103.5 fever due to MMR shot.
She may have an ear infection..especially since she has other cold like symptoms. I would have them check her ears when you take her back in. My DD has had one twice, spiked really high fevers but I never thought it was her ears since she wasn't tugging at them. Hope she feels better soon!

soorry to hear that she got sick. I always give tylenol with shots to prevent fevers.

Re: UPDATE: Poor baby just had a 103.5 fever due to MMR shot.
Thanks again everyone. Her temperature is now normal for the first time and has been for about 8 hours or so. The dr checked her ears when I took her in the first time and said they were fine. She was up all night wanting to be held, but didnt have a fever. Hopefully her temp will stay low this time.
