UPDATE with pics asthma people...sufferes and moms of...spouses of anyone...please
My heart is racing, we are heading out camping and I want everything to go smoothly.
His pulm is on vacation, just called and left message...
he's been doing great since mid may and all of june.
he's on pulmicort twice a day...but his emergency meds...should I just keep giving it to him while we are out there? I am def giving it before bed. he hasn't had them since first week of may.
do you use emergency meds as prevention?

Emergency meds should NOT be used as prevention except for circumstances such as exercise induced asthma its too much strain on the heart.
Keep him on his maintenance meds and bring all his emergency meds as well as his nebulizer. You can buy a power inverter for like $20-$30 that you can plug into the car and then plug the nebulizer in and run the nebulizer withteh car started in case of an emergency. I HIGHLY reccomend you have this incase he has an attack her can get neb treatments on his way out of there.

we have converter. a bad asthma attack once on the road to ny...I have 2 now...a back up.
sounds good to me. have a cooler with emerg meds.
have to keep reminding myself we aren't leaving the country.

You will be fine. IF he even has an attack just remind yourself you've handled attacks before and you will get through it!

I also agree that emergency meds are not to be used as a preventitive.
Just try not to worry, i know its soo soo hard-but just remind urself that youve been through his attacks before, and if he has one you already know what to do.
Try to have a good time...

he's just been so much better since we redid his room to make it allergy free.
the thought of being in the smokey freaking moutains with dolly parton's kin in the middle of the night in a tent with an attack is making me itch.
everything is going to be okay. you are right we have done it before.

thanks so much guys!
great little trip...not a single cough or wheeze, just gave maintance drugs.
The smokey campfire gave me a panic attack the first night, then I just had to be told he's not the first one with asthma to ever go camping...that was it.

AWESOME... I was just going to FM you and see how it went.
You'll notice the more his asthma is maintained and "in check" the more stuff he can do and usually the sudden attacks don't happen as often and aren't as severe.
AWESOME pics!! He's getting so BIG!  LOVE the tubing shots

thanks! we had fun. I am not a real camper. I went to summer camp and all that, went on biking trip last summer, but it is a cheap good time.
i did not handle nights too well...I felt like a sitting duck waiting for a bear.
I don't have camping friendly hair at all. I looked like a nut.

i can honestly say Josh loved it. Every moment.
While Leo went biking, I had gotten josh a little photo album, we hiked collected leaves and flowers to put inside.
Then we played Candyland, which he is addicted to.
I got him the magnifing glass to look at bugs.
He caught fireflies...it was so nice to see him loving it.
My DH really loves it to.
So for me its roll with it or get rolled over.
