UPDATED w/ Pics of Completed RENO -Kids Bathroom
We are gutting and redoing our upstairs bathroom. Upstairs is 2 bedrooms - one for DD and one for baby on the way. So this bathroom will be just for their use. Thoughts on fixtures/tile/colors? I need inspiration! TIA!
ETA: we don't want to make it SO kid-like that it would affect re-sale value
Just wanted to share the before and after pics:
Before:
After:
Thanks for all of your input!

I'm not sure i'd make it kid-ish at all - I'd just add accents for the kids (Dora themed shower curtain and whatnot) so that I could easily change it when they get older or when you try to sell.

I'm not making it kid-ish in terms of like character-printed tile, etc. - I guess I mean more along the lines of what kind of tub is good, paint color, etc. We want to keep it bright and airy. I don't want a darker tile, or an ultra modern style.

in retrospect, of course you meant that ... i blame preggo brain
i know most people prefer shower curtains for kids vs shower doors so I'd probably opt for that.
I'd probably want tile either all the way to the ceiling, or at least half way up (easy cleanup in case they pee on the walls ).
Depending on the size of your bathroom, a sink with the cabinet under it is probably better so you can store things in there. I'd also try to add extra shelves or a little closet of sorts for extra towels.
As for colors, I'm pretty useless at that so I'm not even going to try.

I would just stick with neutral colors and then go kid with the accessories.
Tub....just any tub that fits from HD is fine. Sick- storage!!!!! Tile colors I would go with a subway maybe.

Re: Kids Bathroom
Thanks girls. I am picturing in my head like a white subway tile with a glass mosaic accent strip (pretty thin, nothing crazy) maybe in blues and greens. Then a darker gray square tile floor. white tub and vanity with cabinet. subway tile will go half wall. top half paint a color that goes with the mosaic accent.
does that sound reasonable?
bathroom is ... 5x9? I think? It's upstairs in a traditional cape so whatever size that bathroom usually is. Not huge but not tiny.
eta definitely a curtain not shower doors.

Re: Kids Bathroom
I love all white bathrooms with pops of bright color.
I would do walls a bright Turquoise or Green and then do other bright accessories.

Lowe's has some really pretty mosaic tiles recently. We got a pretty crackled porcelain in 12x12 that we're going to break into three pieces for an accent strip. They also had some mixed glass and stone mosaics. We're also doing a nook in the shower to store soaps and stuff out of the kids' reach and we'll line the back of that with the mosaic. We did wainscoting in our hall bath and I hate it. I don't know if it's just the paint we picked which did not go on well at all but it's impossible to keep clean.

You basically described my bathroom. I can take pics if you want. I just don't have tile outside the tub area.

That sounds nice! We are redoing our 2nd bathroom too and it will mainly be for the kids. We are doing the wood tile on the floor and then travertine on the walls with a glass accent. I looked at tubs in hd and lowes and wound up getting one from Lowes. They had better reviews..i dont know the name off the top of my head but the one we chose bows out a bit so the kids will have extra room in the tub. GL!!

I would also choose a shallow tub so giving baths would be easier.

I have to say we have a deep tub and baths are not an issue and I'm small. It also is good cause the water stays in the tub now that my DS is older and splashes like crazy

I don't know the brand but bought all the tiles at Prada Tile in Levittown. They are super helpful.

Re: Kids Bathroom
In my kids bath we did wood look tiles for the floor and white subway tiles for the tub/shower. We did a simple white tub and a white vanity. I painted a fun bright color and did primary color accents (soap dish, toothbrush holder, trash can). It is really cute and can totally grow with them as they get older.

Our bathroom is pretty much finished too. We didn't do white subway tiles but I love how it came out. I recommend the tub we used, it's standard size but comes out just a bit so the kids have more room to play. I have pics the our hall bath album...GL!! So exciting :)

When we did out bathroom over we did white subway tile with a glass mosaic accent, we painted the walls gray and did a light grey tile floor and just staggered them in a subway tile pattern. It came out nice..
