Updated- Why would lie about the Movers Stealng $20????

So after almost 2 months- the owner of the moving company I used called me back

only b/c i disputed the charge with Amex- that finally got his attention

He told me - he can believe they damaged the door and my couch- but as soon as I bring up the $20 being missing- he can't belive that

he words- "that's petty"

well no offense- but it's not- it speaks to the character of people you have working for you

the same people that told me I was there "Only job of the Week" and then made a comment about my SUV-

apparently I was NOT there only job of the week - so I was being set up for a gulit tip

Why would I lie about $20 being missing? and why is that unbelievable?

Had everything else gone smoothly that day- I would NEVER had said anything- but when add it all up- the bill for the door was $1300! and the couch was over $2K when I got it- only 3 years ago

Plus the $900 moving bill- for 7.5 hours- when they mayve worked 5- it all adds up

Ugh don't get me started on movers... sorry you have to go through this!! Did they end up reimbursing you?

I believe it. I had movers come once and I had some last minute items that were going into boxes to go in the car. It included a few rolls of quarters, dimes, pennies, etc. They took the bigger amounts and left the pennies.

I hope they pay for the damage. When I moved they stole liquor from me. They actually stole the liquor while they were moving our stuff. We had a two day move. When I was unpacking the liquor ( which my Dh took in the car), I noticed two empty bottles. I had dumped some liquor prior to moving so I figured that I just put them in the wrong place. The next day the movers show up minus 1 guy. We asked what happened and they told us that he drank our liquor on the job. He only got fired not because he stole but because if the driver got pulled over he would have gotten a heavy fine.

I never want to move again. I hated every aspect of moving. I still have some boxes to pack so I can't gauge if anything was taken. Never move two weeks after having a baby.

So the owner of the company just called me

he was "Blown away by my letter"

He asked me not to go to the BBB yet ( I wrote in my letter I was going too- all over there website is how good they are rated by the BBB)

I think he though I was just some girl with too much time on her hands- boy was he WRONG

He wants to resolve it by next week

also wanted to add that I hate when people come in my house and dont respect my stuff(my walls and carpet upstairs and doors etc) hello get your greasy hands off my brand new walls and paint also please do not walk on my upstairs carpet with your muddy shoes

Good for you Beth - continue to stand your ground until you get the resolution you want.

That's awesome the you disputed the charge with Amex...it's times like that where I really do like the card and it's benefits.

Do NOT under any circumstances drop your claim with AMEX.

They are the best cc company when it comes to disputes.

I deal with customer disputes all day long at my job and they really fight for their customers. If I can't prove 100% that the customer was wrong, then the customer will almost always receive a full refund from them.
