upset- dr couldnt find the heartbeat with the doppler today UPDATE

Im 10 wks 2 days and the dr couldnt find the hb with the doppler today: She tried for awhile and nothing. We saw the heartbeat at 6 wks on the u/s. She said they dont usually hear till 12 weeks but since Im thin they thought they would be able to hear today. Im still very nervous and fearing the worst. I dont know how Im going to hold out till my us in 2 weeks ANy body go thru this and it turned out ok?


Update: So i called my dr yesterday to see if I could come in for a sono so I dd and everything was great. Baby was just fine. They said that my uterus is tilted back which I knew but forgot and that is probably why they coulndt pick up on it. Thank you all for your reassurance it really helped and I feel so much better now

i havent been throught this but wanted to give you some

why cant your OB get you in sooner for a sono to make sure all is well??

My doc couldn't get the HB wth the doppler at my 12w appt but I had just had my NT scan so saw the baby move and heard the HB - try not to worry!!

I would make an appt. for a sonogram asap personally! I would def. not wait the two weeks.

Hopefully it was just a fluke and your little one was hiding!

ETA: I didn't realize that they can't always hear the heartbeat with the doppler at that point. I would still see if they can fit you in for a quick sono for your peace of mind!

10 weeks is a bit early. By 12-13 weeks, usually the hb can be heard pretty clearly.

You're right on the cusp as to when you can and cannot hear it. I know it's easier said than done but try not to worry. If you're doctor was concerned then he probably would have had you come in sooner for an u/s. If you have no symptoms of anything going wrong, then everything is hopefully fine.

I know it is hard NOT to be upset, but that is very early to hear it on the doppler! My OB didn't even try until like 14 weeks!

that's early to hear it. my midwife tried at my 10 week appointment, but opened with "it's very early and we're probably not going to hear anything, so don't be worried." we didn't hear it either. at my 14 week appointment we heard it loud and clear though.

there's really no reason to worry right now. my midwife said they've even had some people they had trouble finding it on at 14 weeks (though that's more unusual). your uterus is still VERY low in your pelvis right now.

I went to my OB around 14 weeks and before she even put the doppler on my belly she warned me that it was very early to hear the heart beat and that I shouldn't worry. We did end up hearing it and I'm not telling you that to make you feel badly, but I wanted to let you know that she did warn me that I shouldn't worry if we couldn't hear it at that point. Here are some until your next appointment.

That's early - try not to freak out about it. I heard it at the 12 week appt., but she had some trouble at first catching it and told me it was probably too early. I know it's hard, but try to stay positive...

With DS I had seen the heart beat at 6.5 weeks and then at my 12 week appointment they couldn't find it either telling me the same thing they did to you. They ended up doing a sono right then since they have a basic sono machine to check and he was fine. I was also thin at the time.

At my 10 week appt. dr. was still doing internal. I think it may be still early to hear the heartbeat.
Can you call and ask for a sono sooner rather than later?

Same exact thing happen to me. I was 11 wks and she couldn't find it and I went a week later to see if she can try again and she still couldn't find it. I had u/s the following day and saw my peanut bouncing back and forth, which is why she probably couldn't find it, b/c even the sono tech had to follow baby to get the heartbeat. I know exactly how you feel. Just try and see if you can get an u/s sooner. Its definately nerve wrecking.
I'm sure things are fine though, your peanut is probably like mine bouncing back and forth in there.

At my 12wk appt they couldn't find it via doppler but my ob flipped on the sono real quick and found it. I think it's kind of harsh that you have to wait 2wks. Why couldn't they do a sono right then and there?

I had an appointment with DS at 15 weeks and they couldnt find the heartbeat with the Doppler.

They did a quick sonogram and there he was bouncing around...

Im going to call and ask for a quick sono, this is a new ob for me my ins changed, my old midwife would never let me leave the office a nervous wreck. I sw the Rn not the Dr yesterday, I dont think I like her very much.

I went through the exact same thing. Truth is.. 10 weeks is too early. I had a previous miscarriage and they sent me for a U/S to calm me. All was fine. Maybe if you are that nervous, as I was, you can ask for an ultrasound. Two weeks is a long term to be that nervous.

Ten weeks is early. My doctor didn't even attempt it then. I got an internal sonogram to see the heartbeat.
