I can't beleive they let you leave the office like that!
I would schedule a sono asap just to reassure yourself. I'm sure everything will be fine though...

ITA , they should have given you a sono or explained that it is early and you might not hear a heart beat. My Dr didn't even use the doppler until 15 weeks

My Dr. couldn't find the heartbeat w/ that stupid thing at my 13 week appt -
He gave me an internal sono instead.
Sometimes the baby doesn't move up from your pelvic bone so they can't hear it ...........

You're still early and every doctor's office has different equipment. Even if the batteries in the doppler are going dead, it will effect the strength of it working. Don't be uspet and stress yourself. Totally normal, if you're thin or not. You have no idea where the baby is or where your placenta is.

My midwife wouldn't even try until about 17 weeks. There are so many reasons why they might not be able to hear at that point - the little one is still very small and might not be in a good position. Or you could have an interior placenta which would make it difficult.
Don't worry, everything is just fine in there.

definitely call and ask to come in for a sono. This happened to me at my 11w appt and the dr did a sono right then and everything was fine.

My doctor wouldn't do the heartbeat at 10 weeks for that reason. I didn't go till 12 weeks. If it makes you feel better def. call and see if they can let you come back in but try to stay positive, easier said than done I know...

hey dont worry i went in at 9w 6days and i couldnt find the heartbeat with the doppler it was way too early please dont be scared
to make me feel better i got an ultrasound that day and all was well u will see at your 12w checkup it comes up so easliy

I also think 10 weeks is very early for a doppler. I agree with every poster here - call for an internal sono. There is no reason for you to wait 2 weeks.

She said they dont usually hear till 12 weeks but since Im thin they thought they would be able to hear today. Im still very nervous and fearing the worst. I dont know how Im going to hold out till my us in 2 weeks ANy body go thru this and it turned out ok?
I totally went through this, everyone freaked out, they wouldn't let me even schedule my next appointment because they were all convinced it was over...they sent me for an U/S and everything was fine. Hang in there! It is very possible that it is just too early

That's early still! I heard the heartbeat on the doppler at just over 10 weeks the first time, but my midwife had to search for quite a while. When I was pregnant with my daughter, my doctor tried to hear the heartbeat once at 14 weeks & couldn't find it. A sono confirmed she was fine (obviously) & just hiding!

Happened to me at 10wks too. The dr then did a sono right after and everything was fine. The baby was moving around alot so the doppler was unable to pick it up. I am surprised they let you leave w/out a sono. I would call today and request one ASAP just to elevate any stress you may have.

I wouldnt worry too much. The dr. had a hard time finding the heartbeat at 12 wks. for me...it took her a few minutes...and we had the u/s right after so I knew everything was ok.

Ditto. At 10.5 weeks, my doc couldn't hear the h/b. But he wouldn't let me leave his office w/o at least hearing or seeing it. So we did a quick sono - h/b was there! We didn't hear it until 13 weeks.

I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry. Two weeks is a long time so if you really can't stop worrying then request a sono.
My doctor never attempted to use the doppler until 12 weeks. She also doesn't send patients for a sono until 18-20 weeks unless there's an issue like bleeding or high risk pg or if you're not sure when your last period was to figure out a due date. My OB doesn't do the NT testing.

This happen to me too!! Hang in there I'm sure everything is fine. I also then Rented a Doppler myself and that still took me a few weeks to find the heartbeat also!

The doppler is external right...I didn't have that done til 12 wks..my RE said no way we will be able to hear it outside before then...I would go for an internal.

by any chance, did you have to pee?
at my last visit, the doc had a hard time finding the heartbeat with the doppler, and found it after I had already lost my mind with fear...
she then gave me a quick sono, and we saw the heartbeat, and my INCREDIBLY engorged bladder.. it blocked the sound I guess.
I had been waiting in the exam room so long, I had to pee again. I had no idea it would effect that either.

ETA: I am being sent out for my first sono for the nuchal translucency. my OB has a small sono machine that she uses at each visit to check things out herself.

Can you call and ask for a sono sooner rather than later?

Do you know why your OB didn’t just do an internal sono to make sure everything looked good? Like the other women said, try to set one up for your own peace of mind.

Crashing your site. I'm not preggo yet just TTC and I am a nursing student taking Maternity health and we teach our clients that a heartbeat can not be heard on a doppler until week 12. Hold on. I know this must be hard for you but see what happens on Week 12.

OMG yes. I had the same thing happen when I was pregnant . It was sooooo stressful and so hard to wait . I didn't sleep at all and I cried and cried. But I went back a week later and baby was fine
