Urinary Track infection?
Has anyone had a urinary track infection during their pregnancy???
I had bad burning and cramping today, plus I threw up 2x... so I called the nurse and she sent me to get urine taken from a lab... she also sent in a prescription for meds...she said to begin taking them right away...
I know she would not give me meds I should not take... BUT my thing, what if I don't have a urinary track infection and I take the meds...so I want to wait and see what the results say...
DH and my mom are saying to just take it the nurse knows what to give...
I am just nervous and feel like I can take feeling crappy for a day or so and see what the results say...
What would you do?

Honestly, I just took the meds. In hindsight maybe I should've waited but I don't feel guilty or that I did any harm to the baby. I was only about 10ish weeks along.
My doctor said that they treat UTIs very aggressively b/c of the risk of the infection going into the kidneys and pre-term labor.
Do what you're comfortable with and I'm sure if you wait 1 day it wouldn't be a big deal. Also, the hallmark signs of a UTI are the burning and feeling like you have to pee and then not actually peeing.

Thanks--- I did wind up waiting...hopefully they will call tomorrow morning and I will go get the meds ...

I had a UTI that I didn't even kno about, however it was causing me to have contractions so don't mess around with not taking the meds if you do have one!! I took Macrobid which is ok for pregnancy.

If it's antibiotics, take them right away!
I got a UTI at about 10 wks also (a BAD one) and my doctor gave me macrobid also. The antibiotics are fine to take.

She likely gave you an antibiotic. I had a UTI at around 8 weeks. Take the meds. If the infection gets worse it can spread to your kidneys and that can affect the baby. The antibiotics won't hurt you or the baby.

I had a UTI during my pregnancy. It wasn't too uncomfortable but I felt pressure. I took antibiotics and it cleared up. Honestly, if the doctor's office is prescribing it, take it. Most offices won't give meds unless it's necessary.
