Using Disney ammenities if you don't stay at the hotel
Someone suggested to me trying one of the pools at a Disney resort that we aren't staying at. Can we do that? We are staying with family. Will they ask for our room key or room number? I wouldnt want to make the trip to get asked to leave

No, Disney resort amenities are for Disney resort guests.

Disney resort amenities are reserved for the guests staying at those resorts. Even resort guests are not allowed to pool hop - try out pools at other resorts.

Unfortunately if you are not a registered guest you cannot use the pools etc. You can go to other resorts and eat or have drinks but you won't be able to pool hop.

Only DVC Members can pool hop.
DVC members are also limited to certain pools. They may not hop to Stormalong Bay, the Kidani pools or the Bay Lake Tower pool. The privilege can also be suspended or limited at any time at the discretion of the resort or DVC so it's a good idea to call ahead. Once you've hopped, you may also be asked to leave if the pools reach capacity.
Holiday weeks/weekends are considered blackout periods and hopping isn't allowed at all.

if you walk through epcot through the back you can get to the beach club the pool is right in the front. if you just walked in no one would notice they dont ask for a key or anything you could walk through the halls and use the bathrooms near th lobby.
you arnt "supposed "to and i have never dont it if i havent stayed at a place but you technically could.

Actually Stormalong Bay at beach Club, a Kim mentioned is one of the pools even DVC Members aren't allowed to hop to.
I would not could on being able to hop there are would not rule out being kicked out.

Yacht/Beach club pool you have to show your key. They put bracelets on you. So you would definately stand out if you don't have a bracelet. If you want to use the amenities at a Disney hotel, book a room at a Disney hotel.

This - each guest entering the pool area (which is controlled by locked gates) has to show a room key. You need a room key to swipe into the gate. You will then be given a bracelet.
The lifeguards will ask for a room key (or DVC card) at other pools - especially if you look like you aren't staying at the hotel. I've seen people asked to leave. I've been asked for ID also.
If you were a tourist in NYC (or anywhere else), you wouldn't pop into a random hotel to use its pool - it's the same thing.

We have stayed at the YC and have never been given a bracelet, or been asked to show our keys. Perhaps it's SOP during the busier months though. We try to go off peak.

we went this past september which isn't considered peak season and stayed at bay lake - there is no pool hopping allowed at that pool as well as stromalong bay. (even for dvc members)
the pool is gated and to enter you need to swipe your room key to open the gates.
u may get lucky in the off chance that someone MAY leave and as they are leaving you go thru the gate but at that point the lifeguard can see if u were waiting there and can kick u out. not worth it imo

We are DVC members and stayed at Beach Club in October They were very strict about pool hopping.

When we went is 06 and 07 and stayed at the GF no one was checking anything...hope that this has changed.
