Vaccine questions
My twins just turned 1 y/o this past weekend. At the pediatrician yesterday, she was going to give them the MMR vaccine, but asked us if we wanted to wait because some of the other parents worry it is linked to autism and the ped. didn't want to push it on us. She said she doesn't believe it is linked and said we would know if our twins were autistic at this point. I said I thought with autism the child is vibrant, etc., and then sort of dissapears within him/herself. So we decided to wait until 15 months. But now I am worried. My twins are awesome, very interactive and outgoing. My son is so advanced. I can't imagine causing him and his sister harm. Anyone heard anything about this? Also, I am 3 months pregnant, so she said we will have to put the chicken pox vaccine off also. I never go the chicken pox, but before we tried to get pregnant with the twins, I had the adult vaccines. They didn't stick. My OB told me. So I guess I am susseptable to chicken pox, even though my siblings had them as children and I didn't get it from them. My question is how long can she put that vaccine off for the twins and secondly, if they do get it when the baby comes, will the baby be at risk if they get an outbreak from the vaccine? Thanks.

Re: Vaccine questions
I just went with my one year old son in February and I did get him the MMR. I have a three year old son as well. he received the MMR at 15 months but at the discretion of my prior pediatrician.
I wasn't concerned about the MMR personally. My son is developing really well and after the shot I saw no change in his behavior. I am was about 4 months pregnant at the time and they were not going to give him the chicken pox shot either. I did have the chicken pox when I was younger so the pediatrician had no reservations about giving it to him. Many people actually opt out of this shot because it's relatively new (within the past few years).
You can break up the MMR shot as well and I think you can get them the shot at one year.
I would really ask more specific questions to pediatrician. For me, my 3 year old already had the shot and i had the chicken pox....
