Varicocele
Can anyone give me some information on this?My sister has been trying to conceive for a number of years and after testing my BIL they diagnosed him with Varicocele. he is having surgery done in may to correct it.
Is the surgery a guarantee? Those of you whose DH has had it done, were you able to conceive?
Thanks so much!

Re: Varicocele
My Dh has bi-lateral varicoceles. We were trying for many years and never were able to get PG. When we found out we decided to go straight to IVF. IUI wasn't recommended for us and depending on which dr's you talk to some will say the surgery works others say no guarantee.
Since we waited for so long we decided to go straight to IVF instead of waiting for 1 year from the surgery to see if the surgery worked. Good luck to your sis and BIL

Re: Varicocele
My DH had the surgery and his SA has gotten better. His motility is not great yet (6 months later) but his count is normal now. We just started IUI.
FM me if you want the doctors info.

Once the surgery is done, is IUI recommended or does just good ole baby dancing suggested?

Well we were told that it could take up to a year to see the full effects of the surgery and we weren't willing to wait that long. We gave it 6 months and decided on our own to go to the RE. I think our urologist would agree with our decision though.

Re: Varicocele
We found out in February that my husband has varicocele. The urologist suggested surgery, he said that we can start trying again right after. But...he won't move forward to any other conception method until we are trying for at least nine months and the surgery isn't guaranteed to improve morphology and motility. So we are doing IVF with ICSI right now and then after we conceive he will get the surgery. Then we would like to try conceiving the good old fashion way.
