Vent about wrong numbers
I just need to vent. This guy keeps giving my cell phone number out as his own. He apparently has a lot of medical issues because i get about 2 calls a day confirming doctor and hospital appointments for him. And because "he" isn't calling back to confirm, they keep calling "me" (sometimes 5 times a day) so then i feel obliged to call these places back and explain to them the situation - that they have the wrong number. I have asked most of these places to tell him that he keeps giving out the wrong number but to no avail. It's driving me crazy. And it's not like he actually has my number just a different area code because all the numbers that are calling are 516 numbers. Ugh!!! Thank you - vent over!

I have the same thing with my home number. People call at all hours thinking it's a towing company and recently creditors were calling multiple times a day looking for a woman who doesnt live here, I guess she just gave a random phone number  It is soooo annoying!

I have a guy who keeps texting my cell phone in spanish.. he sends like 6 emails in a row.. and its not like i can get a hold of him b/c hes texting from a computer.. i once got soo pizzed that i texted him back that if he didnt stop i was going to kick his A** and he called me something in spanish, my dh said it was a curse lol.. but he still keeps texting me..
I called the cell phone company to block his texts and they said i cant.. i can either block all texts from everyone (uhhhmm noo) or change my # and that means renewing my contract (uhhmm nooo).. what bullpoop.

Some guy kept giving my cell number out and I'd get multiple calls or messages each day all in spanish, which I don't speak or understand. So now I have a message that starts "NO HABLO ESPANOL! If you are looking for Cathy, please leave a message..."

Wanna here a really strange story about wrong numbers?
When my grandmother passed away, the night of her funeral we were getting calls from a funeral home in Wading River. People were getting annoyed at us, b/c we couldn't help them.
Apparently the funeral home fowarded there phone to our house.
It stopped the next morning, but it was just really creepy considering it was the day of my grandma's funeral.

Oh my gosh I keep getting a call from: "000-000-0000" on my cell phone. Every time I answer it the person just hangs up.
Then at home..... Someone who has Caremark for prescriptions gave our phone number so once a week we get an automated call from Caremark saying they are having a problem filling our prescription. I've tried calling the number back, hitting numbers when on the phone with recording, nothing I do ever gives me a live person so I can ask them to stop calling my house. It is soooooooo annoying

I know at least one other lady on LI that has a big problem with this. I was calling cablevision to pay my bill... the number is something like 225-5555; but I hit 255-5555 I think, or some derivation of that, and the lady had her answering machine setup saying "This is NOT cablevision, if you are trying to call THEM, their number is #######"
It was so funny, I called back a second time to hear it again and then forwarded it to friends to call.

My IL's used to get calls for a Pizza place. They would answer the phone and people on the other end was like "We'd like to place an order". They've since changed their number.

Oh, and I just remembered. A school nurse has our number too.
I remember coming home from work and listening to a message on the machine. It was like "Hi, this is so and so from the nurses office. I was just calling to tell you that John had an accident today. We would appreciate it if you could just drop off some new undies and pants for him".
I felt so bad for that little boy that probably sat in pee all day.

When I lived home we always got calls for the Mobil station around the corner.
Always around dinner time.
My mom got so mad one night, she answered and said "Yes, Maa'm..your car will be ready shortly".
I was like  but at the same time
It does get very annoying.

You are definitely not alone! My cell number is very similar to Saint Mary's Cemetery and I get calls from distraught people looking for plots. I always feel the need to call them back and tell them they left a message on the wrong line and give them the correct number. But I seriously get like at least three calls a week!

No, not at all.
I get calls all the time for the local Montissoree (sp?) school...so many that I have started to call the parents back who want to send me paperwork for their kids. My home number is one digit off and the receptionist speaks so fast that it sounds like my number. I have spoken to her MANY times and once asked what was the message that she left that resorted to so many calls to my house. She started about 2 years ago - when the calls started.
I even called the school to let them know that their museum field trip was a bring your own lunch event. I get more of those calls during the summer since I suppose that is when spots open up for fall

ever since we moved to nj and got our new #, we constantly get calls for this one family- from dr's, from the son's school, from car dealerships, etc
sometimes DH or i call back and tell them they have the wrong number.
this is crazy!

My aunt and uncles number used to be (516)-xxx-FU CK. People used to call and say hey... you know your number spells FU CK. It was funny in the beginning. After a while, they'd just hang up.
I kept getting a call for someone that used to have this number. I asked the doctors office that always called to update their records since they no longer had this number. After they called one too many Saturday mornings to confirm Mondays appt, I told them that he died and update their records. They no longer call me.
