Gina your mom just needs to stop, did her mom do this to her when she told them their choice of names? I doubt it. This is YOUR baby not hers and she needs to stop acting like one.
Lia is a great name and if she doesnt like it then tough, she can suck it up. You also need to tell her she needs to respect you when she is born and not call her another name or else

This is her FIRST grandchild and this is how she's acting??!!?? I would think that she'd be OVER THE MOON with the fact that she's going to be a grandma... and this is something she could share with you.
How sad. I feel like people get so wrapped up in unimportant things... this is a baby coming to the world. Like a previous poster said, it's not like you're naming her after a fruit... Lia (Leah, Lea) is a BEAUTIFUL name...

I love the name, so pretty! Once your DD is here your mom is not going to care what her name is, she will be in love with her no matter what! Name the baby what you want to name it!

You are NOT alone.
I bet growing up with her you grew a really thick skin - just ignore her and her comments. You're probably used to doing that anyway. Some mothers are just wired differently. My mom will tell me whatever she is thinking - good, bad, and really ugly. She thinks/knows I can take it. I'm sure the same is true in your case.
It just sucks b/c you're going to remember this.
FTR - I think your name is a gorgeous name!!!

this is the exact reason we are not telling anyone her name until she comes. Its not that we chose a bad name but we dont care to hear everyone's opinions.
