Verizon Fios....
anyone have it??
We dont have it in our area yet, but my BIL LOVES it better than cablevison's version

ILs have it ( and we are buying their hosue from them, so we'll have it soon, too!) they really like it. the internet is fast and the picture on the TV really is a little bit clearer. i think the only thing FIL doens't like is that he can't record on a VCR anymore, and hes too cheap to pay the extra money for the DVR

They do offer DVR? They came door to door in our area yesterday and DH signed the contract and that was the one thing he forgot to ask! We're in Rockland County and the TV just became available in our area.

That is what my BIL said. The internet is much faster than Optimum, and the picture is so clear, it is like every channel is in HD.
We called last night and it wasnt in our area yet.

I just ordered the fios internet, tv is not in our area, but we have Driect Tv and we really like that.
The Fios interent and the calling plan I have works out to be 9 bucks chepaer a month for faster service.
I will update when we get it installed.

Yes, my parents have it and have the box with the DVR. They actually have the media station box (not sure if thats exactly what its called) where you record shows on the "main" box, and then can watch them on any other box in the house. Its really cool.

We have Fios. I really don't see any difference in speed of the internet. We used to have Time Warner. I can't compare the cable bc we bought a new flat screen when we moved but it is slightly annoying bc when you change channels it takes like a second.

We have Fios phone and internet. TV isn't available in our area yet so we went with Direct TV. We are very happy with it.
My friend in Huntington has Fios TV and loves it and yes they have DVR.

Here's why we had FIOS and switched back to Cablevision.
1. I found the internet was not any faster and took longer to "connect" to the wireless router.
2. The router they gave us was not compatible with X-Box 360 but they refused to give us another one or try to fix the problem.
3. It is only $95 per month BEFORE tons of taxes, and that is only for ONE television. When all was said and done, it was no cheaper.
4. We didn't like the "view" of the smushed tv "guide" - and we found the remote harder to use.
5. Once Verizon got us to switch, they wanted nothing to do with us and were very rude on the phone.
6. During install, they wouldn't hook everything up and simply gave us "codes" to program other areas of our house.
When the Cablevision guy came to hook us back up, he just laughed and says that this happens every day!
I know lots of people have it and love it. I'm just giving an FYI about the other side.

Does the phone service switch or is it just bundled. I have an alarm and I know that I could not get the phone service from Cablevision because of the alarm. I am curious if I will have an issue with this.

THe phone service switches and is bundled. I also have an alarm with Fios and I have had no problems.

We have all three, phone internet and we just go the tv. I love it! Much more channels than you get with cablevision. I love the hd dvr.
The hook up took a long time b/c we have 7 tvs.
I work for verizon and I was very hesitant about switching away from cablevision for the tv, but I would never go back to cable again...but that is just my opinion
