Verizon Fios/Direct TV...... Samething??

DH and I live with my parents and my dad told me he is switching to Direct tv. He wanted to switch to Fios but Fios isn't in our area so we are getting direct tv. He couldn't explain it to me. Are we getting all direct tv? I'm so confused with all this. They are coming saturday to install everything. Are we still dealing with verizon or direct tv OR is it the same company. I knew I should of called and set this all up. Can you have a phone line with verizon and interent and tv with direct tv?


Can anyone help/explain this to me!? Should I call and have them explain it. I'm so lost

If I understand correctly, you will have Verizon phone and internet, but DirecTV will provide TV. Since Fios isn't offered this is the deal Verizon made with DirecTV.
We have DirecTV directly for our TV and Verizon directly for our internet so we pay two different bills and companies, but it sounds like you would only pay Verizon, since they brokered this deal for areas that don't have Fios.

Yes you are getting Direct TV. Direct TV isn't available in our area either. We have had it since we bought our house 3 1/2 years ago. We have Fios for internet and phone because they have a bundle with Direct TV where we do get a percentage off of our bill because we have Fios internet and phone and Direct TV.

I believe there was one installer from Verizon but I could be mistaken. It was a while ago.

DirectTV is ONLY TV signals through their dish. Verizon has potentially phone, internet (DSL or FiOS), and TV.
