Very TMI- moms who had a Vag birth (update)
I can't believe I'm actually typing this- it's that embarassing. I am so embarrassed about this- so please don't quote as I'll probably take it down.
DD had to be vacuumed out after I had been pushing for almost 3 hours. Things *down below* haven't been the same since. At my 6 week PP appt., the doctor said things looked totally normal and they would *eventually* get back into place.
It's now 5 months PP and things are NOT where they should be. OK- here goes (get ready to )....
I think the top wall of my vagina has COLLAPSED in. I ALWAYS feel like there is something hanging out of me. When I'm sitting on the toilet and look with a mirror, it looks like a balloon or something pushing out. When I *feel around* ( ) it feels like the my cervix is RIGHT there and the part sticking out is the top of my vagina. It's almost like it's semi-prolapsed.
I finally got my period this week and it was VERY difficult keeping a tampon in- it kept getting pushed out.
Obviously I'm going to call my doctor- but I wanted to see if others have had this same experience because if she says this is totally normal and it turns out it's NOT, I'll be changing doctors.
Thank you for ANY replies....
Update for those who had asked:
My bladder has fallen into my vagina. It could be worse- if it were a prolapsed uterus then my child bearing days would be over- so I guess I'm somewhat relieved with this diagnosis.
It's caused (in my case) by genetic predispostion and pregnancy/pushing. The only way to fix it is through surgery- and I can't do that until I'm done having babies. AND I will likely have little to no bladder control with my next pregnancy(s).
Fan-freaking-tastic- now in addition to cankles I also have "smelling like pee all the time" to look forward to with the next one.
But at least I can still have more babies..

Re: Very TMI- moms who had a Vag birth
yup, when i went for my 6 week appt, the dr told me i didnt heal the right way (i had an episiotomy and they cut inside my vajayjay and that he felt some resistance when he did the exam. I was so upset at the time, but he said that the more DH and i do the deed, the more it will loosen up and he was right he said if it didnt loosen up by my 1 yr appt, they would have to consider cutting me again. So Dh and I made sure we did the 1st option b/c both of us didnt want to go through the process again LOL. i do have to say i still have pain when we BD, but its gotten much better over the past couple months

Re: Very TMI- moms who had a Vag birth
Okay, I havent looked down there...maybe fear of what it does look like but I do feel the discomfort when using tampons. I switch back and forth with pads.
For me, I feel like its the muscles that arent as tight...not sure.
Things are definitely not the same!!

Re: Very TMI- moms who had a Vag birth
After 3 hours of uneventfull pushing I had a kiwi vac extraction (only took one try) and needed only a handful of stitches. We were back in the saddle around 4 weeks PP and had nothing like you are explaining. How many attempts did they need with the vac and do you know what kind they used? I would think its very possible some type of damage could have been done. If you don't LOVE your OBGYN I would try to find a new one and talk over if you do have a problem or not or if it's nothing and more in your head. I hope in the long run it's nothing.

Re: Very TMI- moms who had a Vag birth
i HAD something so similar to this way after 6 week check up - the dr. said it was my bladder, and I would have to do the kegel exercises to stregnthen all the muscles. She said if that didn't work in a few months it may have to be "lifted" thank god the exercises worked! It is totally back to normal, I delivered a large baby too - so it was understandable she was 8lbs 6 oz.
Whenever I stood for a long period of time - it felt like it was coming out.
This may be what you are experiencing .

It was just one successful attempt. I'm not sure what kind they used (I had no idea they had more than one kind).
My OB had said to do keigels but it hasn't worked in getting things back up (although my bladder control is back-thank goodness).
Thank you ALL for your replies and your FMs. I have been wanting to post about this for MONTHS but I've been too embarrassed. None of my friends/families with babies described this so I thought there must be something wrong.
Belive it or not, I called my doctor as soon as I posted about this and was able to get an appointment for TODAY.
You ladies are wonderful- thank you so much for taking the time to reply and share your experiences (as embarrassing as they may be).

Re: Very TMI- moms who had a Vag birth
If you see something that looks like a balloon, it could be a prolapsed uterous or bladder. I have seen it on TV, it looks exactly like what you have described. I would go see a specialist right away.

Re: Very TMI- moms who had a Vag birth (update)
Goodness! I am sorry you are going through this.
My mom actually lived with a prolapsed uterus, bladder, and vajayjay for about 18 months before having major surgery last april to correct it.
Granted she is way beyond her childbearing years.
But if you need to talk about it at all, even though I haven't gone through it myself, my mom definately did not keep the details to herself.

Re: Very TMI- moms who had a Vag birth (update)
Wow - thats awful!!!!
Does it affect you when you guys are intimate?
I had a c/s, so I have no idea what any of that would feel like - but that would be my biggest concern (after having another baby) - if it gets in the way of sex...

Re: Very TMI- moms who had a Vag birth (update)
Wow sorry to hear all that is happening... I had a vacuum delivery as well...all went well, but things feel very tight... tighter then when I was a virgin... I asked my doc about it...he said all will be fine and the only thing that'll fix it...is more sex... to loosen it all up... well now ds is 6 months old and finally it feels a bit better.... but at least you can have more babies!!!
