V.W. Touareg vs Acura RDX?

Dh and I are looking at getting a new car in the next few months. We have an '01 4Runner now, and we're thinking we want to stay in the SUV class of cars. We basically have it down to two different cars...either the V.W. Touareg or the Acura RDX.
Has anyone ever owned, known someone who owned either of these cars?? I'm going to test drive them both on Monday but I was just looking for a little insight from anyone who's had any experience with either of these cars. TIA!

hate to say it, since I'm german, but VW's don't exactly have the best reputation when it comes to repairs (at least according to consumer reports). Acura DOES.

I bet the acura will cost much less to maintain, and be less of a headache.....

i am a fan of the vw, we love it. but i do have some friends that have the acura and they r happy with it. again though i vote for vw!!!

I love the Touareg! It reminds me of the Porche SUV. I don't know anything about it though.

My choice in 04 was between the Acura (MDX) and Touareg. I Went with the Acura and couldnt have been happier.

I would go with the Acura. Afriend of the family has one and loves it!!! The touareg's are way overpriced.

I have a Touareg and I am not happy with it. Something ALWAYS seems to go wrong with it. A very good friend of mine had the same issues and MANY more. I just don't feel it's worth the money I'm paying. I'm locked into a lease, unfortunately, or else I would have gotten rid of it a long time ago. It's a VERY heavy drive. Where I feel completely safe in it...it's just too "heavy" for me...if that makes sense.

Plus, I absolutely LOATHE Riverhead Bay Motors so i REFUSE to go back to them after my lease is up.

I would get the Acura. you really can't go wrong with Acura/Honda

We had a T-Reg until we sold it when we downsized to one car to move into the city.

I loved it and everything about it. It does drive heavy but that's part of the reason I loved it. It's a steady and secure truck. Ours was the V8 version with all the options, and all the options sweetened the deal. That truck did everything and had everything. We never had any problems with it.

I don't know much about the RDX but we do have a friend who has one and she loves it. I have always liked the Acura brand. I had an Acura in college with 150k on it when someone smashed into me and totaled it.

Just bought the Touareg II V8 but I can't tell you much because it will arrive in April. The reason there is a II behind it is because it was changed and overhauled this year so it is improved and hopefully some of the complaints and kinks will be taken care of.
The reason it "reminds" ppl of a Porshe is because it is made by the same co, just diiferent name & also it is a Porshe engine.
We really liked the Acura too- I have a good friend that LOVES his, no complaints.
Test drive both and see what you think.
I was absolutely in love with the Infiniti FX45 until I test drove it, not for me,too small inside...although once again- I loved the look.

BTW: I think the T-Reg V6 is cheaper than the Acura.

I have driven both. They have a similar ride and feel, but I tend to lean toward acura over VW

I'm surprised to hear all the problems with VW's. DH has had a couple of VW's in the past and he absolutely loves them. I'm the one that's throwing the Acura in there, otherwise, if it were up to DH, we would have already bought the Touareg. lol I'm going to have to look further into this.

Acura, definitely

I have a VW and had problems from the start. DH has a used Acura and LOVES it. Besides that though, I like the look of the Acura a lot more and it's supposed to be a great SUV!

I wouldn't get a VW, just based on my sister's experience (SO many problems!!!) so it's a no-brainer for me.

My friend has the acura RDX and loves it. It's really nice.
