Waffle makers - yay or nay?
just wondering if anyone who has one actually uses it, and do you think it's an appliance worth having.
TY!

Re: Waffle makers - yay or nay?
we have a super cute one from williams sonoma... one side has heart-shaped waffles, the other side makes regular belgian waffles.
to be honest... we've only used it once in the three months we've been married! It's something nice to have, but if we hadn't gotten it as a gift we probably wouldn't have gone out and bought it ourselves.

Re: Waffle makers - yay or nay?
I would only get they type of waffle maker that has removable plates that can be replaced with grill or griddle plates so I can cook something else. I stopped buying appliances I can use for only one type of food - it's too limiting and takes up space. I know I would rarely make waffles and if the urge hit, I would rather hit the diner then cook them myself.

Re: Waffle makers - yay or nay?
YES!!!! I got the Cuisinart one and I love it. I use it once a month probably. The only reason I don't is pancakes are just a little easier. But sometimes I love a food waffle.
This is the one I have:

I got one for my shower 4 years ago and I've never used it. I really want to, but I never seem to find the time.

Funny, we actually used it today! Made regular & chocolate chip . I love it. We don't use it all that often, but we it's great for a special weekend breakfast.

Re: Waffle makers - yay or nay?
I use mine once a week to make a batch for the baby. It does take a little more time then Eggos...but the ingredients are much more natural. I substitute a lot too. I use whole wheat flour, a banana instead of sugar, and rice milk instead of regular.

Re: Waffle makers - yay or nay?
My mom has one... I don't have the cabinet space to have one right now, along with a lot of other things I would love to have...
I used to make them plenty... not my mom though. The batter recipe that she had was time consuming, so if I wanted them, I would do them for a Saturday or Sunday morning breakfast for the family.

Re: Waffle makers - yay or nay?
We have 2....1 is smaller and makes 2 small waffles, and the second is HUGE. We have used it a few times, and I love it. No I don't use it as much as I thought I would, but I do cook breakfast more now that we have it. It's worth it for me and around the holidays you can get them for fairly cheap

Re: Waffle makers - yay or nay?
If you plan on making a lot of waffles, it's worth it, because they're pretty inexpensive. But if you're not going to use it, don't bother. We got one as an engagement gift and never used it until last month. But I loved making waffles - I made a bunch and froze them and we reheated them whenever we wanted one. DH loves waffles and I prefer homemade to store-bought, so we're going to start using it a lot more.

Re: Waffle makers - yay or nay?
I have one and was going to through it out when we moved. I have only used it 2 or 3 times since getting it in 1998. But then my DH said, "what if your soon-to-be-baby girl looks at you one morning and says she wants waffles for breakfast." I felt guilty and it came with us!
