Waking up to drink in after going to bed for the night?
Last night, DS woke up around 10 PM screaming. We let him cry for a few minutes to see if he would go back to sleep (he normally does within 5 minutes). Last night he cried for longer so I went in to see what was wrong. As soon as he saw me, he asked for milk. We gave him some milk and he drank it. Then he didn't want to go back to sleep. I sang him a few songs in his room like I do for his normal bed time routine and tried to put him down. He was clearly tired as he nuzzled into me and I could feel him falling asleep. As soon as I put him in the crib, he sat right up and started to cry for me. I just left him but felt so bad. He did fall back asleep within minutes but I still felt bad.
Has anyone else experienced this? How do you handle this?

I know it's the worst feeling when you have to leave them crying, but it is the best. You don't want him to get used to waking up, drinking and having you sing him to sleep.
My DD did this when she was younger, but I tried not to make it a routine.
