Want to take the Brazilian Plunge
i have never had my bikini waxed but have been wanting to for some time. was thinking if i am willing to endure the pain of the bikini, why not just endure a little more and go for the brazilian.
since this is a new venture for me, i need recommendations in re: to where to go (preferably suffolk county).

Ooops...I meant Borte!!! in E. Northport (Jericho Tpke).
I've found Maggie to be the best.
ETA: wherever you go, just be sure to take Ibuprofen about 45-30 minutes prior to your appointment.

Yes, load up on drugs or alcohol beforehand.

I'm there about 20 minutes.
I don't think the pain is bad...if you take an anti-inflammatory before hand (I've found that ibuprofen works the best. I can only take acetaminophen now that I'm pregnant and the ibuprofen definitely worked better.)
It's hard to say how bad the pain is b/c everybody reacts differently. I have a pretty high threshold for pain, so it doesn't really faze me.

The pain is horible but the results are great. A couple of suggestions to minimize pain:
1. Don't go just before or right after your period when you are sensitive
2. Take a few advil
and most importantly... leave your shame at home!

I did it once and I didn't think the pain was much worse than a regular bikini. I had it done at Haven in Soho and the girl was great.
I just couldn't deal with the re-growth - it drove me insane - so never again

Skew - Sorry I didn't realize you weren't in the city. There is a place called Bare that just opened in Greenlawn but I havent been there yet.
I have been to Your Nails in Centerport. They were fine. Just be clear on how much you want off or left. There was a miscommunication when I went.

thanks so much! in re: to the embarrassment, yes i am extremely embarassed but i view it as i don't know these people and they are so used to doing it that i am sure that they don't think about it either. talking is one thing, i still have to build the courage to do it.

i am confused, wouldn't drugs or alcohol help to numb the pain? i don't plan on drinking beforehand but will certainly take some advil or pain medication.

Advil yes. Tylenol, yes. But drinking, absoutely not. I mean, I know you probably wouldnt, I was just interjecting the advice of brunette.

I wanted to do this for my vacation in October...but I'm talking my way out of it...I'm too afraid of the pain! I don't care about the embarrassment...the birthing process takes care of that for life.

mine usually takes about 15 -20 mins and if i keep it up going on a regular basis i find the re growth isnt bad at all and it doesnt itch growing in like shaving does. it does hurt a little but i think it hurts less and less each time i go. i love the woman who does mine she makes me feel really comfortable she is mary at mgm and she does AMAZING eyebrows

It is a little bit painful but I honestly believe no worse than a regular bikini wax! It gets easier as you keep going - the key is to go every four weeks and the hair thins out and grows back less and then it becomes less painful every time
