WARNING-regarding storks for lawn
A 7 day old baby girl was stolen out of her home yesterday (I thin in Wisconsin), authorities are trying to figure out of it is because of the advirtisement on the front lawn that welcomed the "new arrival". Authorities are now deterring anyone from getting lawn storks because of this reason.

Re: WARNING-regarding storks for lawn
I heard about this on the news this morning. I was shocked... they said the mom attacked pretty badly and was in the hospital.

Re: WARNING-regarding storks for lawn
Before I heard about this story I wasnt getting one for the same exact reasons...I think they totally say "we have a baby here" and for those who lurk around...its a great advertisement welcoming them in.

Re: WARNING-regarding storks for lawn
My BF's sister mentioned the idea of this last year when BF was having her baby. Her MIL wanted a stork and her sister said no, people might try to steal the baby. Last year I thought her sister was nuts, but I guess she was more on target than I gave her credit for.

Re: WARNING-regarding storks for lawn
I remember reading this on LIW a few years ago - girls afraid to get the stork b/c of this reason. At first I thought it was ridiculous. Makes me reconsider now.

Re: WARNING-regarding storks for lawn
I saw one of these on the service road to the LIE. I was thinking that it wasnt very bright - they could grab the baby and get away fast. I'd never do it.

Re: WARNING-regarding storks for lawn
I always thought people were silly for not getting storks, because of advertising their baby. I always figured, people are going to know you have a baby regardless of a stork or not, but this story definitely changes my opinion. How horrible

Re: WARNING-regarding storks for lawn
I never heard of those stork things until I came to NY last year. I saw one outside a house last winter while my DH and I were driving somewhere. I said then that there is no way that I would want one of those advertising that I have a newborn inside. Too many crazy people out there.
I do hope they find that little girl soon.

Re: WARNING-regarding storks for lawn
That happened here in Missouri, about 45 mins from St Louis. The mother is okay, the woman that stole the baby cut her throat. They still haven't found the baby yet. Scary.

Re: WARNING-regarding storks for lawn
Same reason why you shouldn't post registry info, last name info and daycare center info here. Some girls don't post pics anymore either. Sick people are out there and they read things here too
